Default IRCHA 2017 Check List

I didn't see any others so I'll start one. I guess this is more for members who will be staying at Ircha be it on site or off site.

I myself will be tent camping at site 4 Tuesday night through Sunday. Rules are simple, just list what your bringing, in hopes we can either remind each other to bring those needed items, or to get new attendees an idea of what to bring. I know a thread similar to this last year helped my greatly since it was my first year. I'll start.

- tent
- inverter generator
- fan
- air bed
- small bbq grill
- cooler with lots of ice and waters (it gets hot out there)
- simple food items for grill
- flash light or lantern
- sun screen
- extension cord
- tarp to put under tent
- ez up tent for flight line
- clothes and towel for shower
- folding table and chairs

Obviously your helis and support equipment for them, but those are a given.

Specific to those with campers: run a full check on all onboard systems prior to hooking up to go. Found some wiring issues in mine but finally got them all fixed. Sux to arrive onsite and then realize a critical system doesn't work. And after the bath houses went down last year, the wife has deemed the onboard plumbing to be a critical system, lol.

So this is my first IRCHA event and had a couple of questions. I won't be camping but rather staying at a hotel for the duration. Is there a place that you could set up a canopy and bring your own chairs, cooler, and of course helis for the day?

There is space reserved for sponsors and such that is centered either side of center stage. Beyond that is wide open. Worst case is they ask you to move down some.

My understanding is you can't set anything up until after 5pm Tuesday. That's what time I plan on rolling in there.

I'm setting up my ez up on the flight line and my tent to camp across the road. I didn't make it until Thursday last year, but this year I took the whole week off.

not sure when you can start setting up your stuff. I still will get vin way earlier to get some fun flying before the event. I do not think its busy like it was during peak in 2011 - 2014. So i think there will be enough to get us all a spot somehow

Most important thing for me to bring is .... FUN. Rest will work out somehow

Here's my checklist, But since I've never gone to IRCHA before, it's probably pretty incomplete:

- 12x12 canopy (I should probably label it)
- sleeping bag, pillow.
- Air mattress and extra D batteries. Cot as a backup
- Tent, & Tarp for ground under tent to protect from rocks and sharps
- 2x folding camping chairs.
- 1 long white table. Rubber mat thing that keeps stuff from sliding.
- 5gal water tank. Maybe also use as an ice bank and for water.
- Cooler - Fill with food/beer/Gatorade (use water from 5gal tank)
- 1 rubbermaid full of drygoods (chips, cookies, beef jerky, salt/pepper, knife forks plates bowls, paper towels, speaker, flashlight, Off, trash bags), Bungee cords, duct tape.
- 1 small suitcase w/ clothes and toiletries
- Generator (800w sportsman) w/ bin (100ft extension cord). Surge protector, power strip,Gas. At least the 1 gal container:
o 0.55gal tank in genny @50% load =6hrs (from descr). Assume ½ gal per day usage? Ex: 1gal tank + .5gal internal genny tank prefilled = approx. 3 days.
- Charging case. And folding stand/table.
- Helicopters: 550sx, 2x X3, FPV racers, small fpv quads, Nano CPX’s,
- Spare parts bins: main, X3, 550sx, quad parts bin
- Laptop (for internet/email/ikon logs/forums). Use Iphone 10GB wifi sharing. Phone and laptop charging cables
- Big umbrella for rain
- Tent Fan
- Bring trash bags to put the tent and tarp inside if they get wet before/during packup. Keep the car clean

I wanted to add a few things, maybe NOT to bring...
I have over packed way to many times, I think I'm starting to get it down...

I don't need to bring every tool I own. Just a few of the essentials, I've brought, in years past, everything needed for a new build, even though I have never built a new heli in the past 5 years.
I don't need to bring 8 or more helis. I think I'll being a max of 3 this year.
Cause when you bring 8 helis, you feel the need to bring ALL their spare parts...
Don't bring too many leisure items, as in, when you're not flying... When ARE you not flying, maybe while you sleep...

This year I am bound and determined to NOT bring too much stuff.

Can't wait.

My thoughts are (as 3D sport / boring flyer) is if I wanted to fly I would have stayed home! I am bringing nothing!
