Default 12s batteries for Goblin 500 Sport?

Hello! I'm currently in the process of piecing together a Goblin 500 for speed flying, and the only thing I'm missing now is batteries.

It seems like there aren't that many options for 12s, and the only packs that I've heard fit is 2x Optipower 2700mAh 6s 30c. Is that the case, or does anyone else know some other packs that fit? Maybe 4x some 2200mAh 3s packs? 3x some size of 4s packs?

I figured I would ask here rather than on the goblin subforum since I've seen a bunch of discussions here about using this particular frame as a speed machine

Are you turning those into a stick pack? I'm running 8S on mine and have 2 4S 3000 packs in a sandwich form. The nice thing is that I can get the CG forward with that config. I'm also at about 105A peak current for the run which is a bit high, but not for the ESC I'm using.

Also, 12S 2600 would be fairly heavy, wouldn't it? I came to my capacity by looking at the standard 6S 4000 for a normal model and then upping the cell count and lowering the mAh size accordingly. I would think that at 12S, a 2000 mAh setup would be optimal. I can get 6 good runs out of my 8s 3000 mAh setup.

This pack might work if you turned it into a stick.

No idea of the quality of that brand though. [EDIT] nevermind, it only has a 16awg wire. That's the size that you'd need I'd think.

Maxamps is a brand more well known in the surface vehicle scene. When I was more into that scene years ago the general consensus was they were mediocre packs that were overpriced and overrated (they claim a "true 100C constant" rating). They market really heavily in the RC car magazines, and are always getting "awards" (from the magazine they are paying a bunch of advertising money to). Most guys saw them as ripping off newbies who didn't know any better.

We actually custom build all of our battery packs to order and can supply any gauge wire you would like. More often than not the applications we have supplied this battery for have not required a larger wire size.

Looking at your setup I would recommend our 2250mah cells as I think they would hold up best under the amp draws you are likely to pull.

Feel free to PM me if you have any questions.

OP, What did you end up going with? Also, which motor are you using? 4025-550?

I have a pair of 2450 Revo HVLI that I think would make a great 12S pack for the G500. They were on the small side for G570, but I think they would be great. Powerful little packs...
