Difference between the R1 and R2 servos?
I am trying to figure out what is the difference (other than price) between the R1 and R2 servos. I don't see any difference in the specs other than the R2's are 2g lighter. Is the only difference that the R1's have a metal bottom case vs the R2's have a plastic/composite bottom case? How about the internal electronic components and/or the gears; any difference between the two models?

So we are talking about a $35 difference for each cyclic servo and $45 difference for the tail servo. That's $150 difference for a whole servo set and the only difference is the metal bottom plate? No other difference at all?

The R1s have a milled/finned aluminum side case, the R2s have a flat side case. R1s might cool a bit better? I have some of each, haven't really noticed any differences heat-wise though. Specs are the same otherwise.

Are the replacement gears the same for both the R1 and R2 servos?
