Re-lubricating X-ERA 4020/2Y-1000 bearings after flushing
So I'm looking for a recommendation on what to re-lube the bearings with in my old XERA motor.
Apparently, while the heli was in flight after a hard maneuver, the shaft developed a little axial play and the pinion stripped a small section of my herringbone gear. Upon landing I noticed the whole motor can had a little play. I've opened the motor, flushed the bearings clean and they seem ok so I'm going to re-lube them and try the motor again. I know Xera's (the predecessor to the Xnova's) normally don't need lubing very often (if at all) but in this case, I need to re-lube with something. My choices on-hand are: - Scorpion bearing lube (may not be the best option) - Tri-Flow - LaBelle plastic safe med weight oil What is the latest consensus? Is there something new out that is superior to all those? Thanks.

These bearing are shielded so normally full of grease. I would expect you would need to repack them with grease unless you want to have to oil them like the scorpion motors. I would suggest changing out the bearings if you have play in the motor can. Then you will not have to worry out lubing them for a while. Might be worth replacing the wave washer that us under the circlip if it has lost its tension. The tool below is useful if your going to grease bearings very often.

If there is axial play due to worn bearinsg then cleaning and lubing the bearings will make absolutely no difference. You need new bearings.

Thanks guys.
I have installed new bearings and tried a brand new Scorpion 4020 replacement shaft that I thought was compatible. Turns out it's too short to get the C-clip on. I've ordered the Xnova 4020 replacement hoping that it will be the correct size. We'll see

Just to answer my last post, the Xnova 4020 replacement shaft (5mm version) is a direct replacement for the Xera 4020-1000 shaft.
