Default Atom 500 swashplate Question

Does atom 500 swashplate is compatible with Align 500 ?

Does atom 500 use specific 500 size swashplate leveler or else ?

Thanks

I cannot answer the first question.

As for the second, there was a swash levelor included with the Atom for a while (probably right after it was updated to FBL).

I was a thick disk (probably 15mm thick-cannot remember) with a cutout on one side so that you could slide it on the main shaft, under the swashplate.

When the swashplate was resting on it, it was the correct height for zero collective. It made it very easy to set up the head and get the servo linkage the right length.

Thanks for the information. However, it is difficult to get this leveler now....

This is a bit old, but in case someone else comes along...

In working on the 5.5 head, I ended up with level swash several mm lower than ideal; this appears to be a known issue with the length of the drive tubes. Rather than having a go at the tubes, I decided to fly it first. For sport and light 3D you would never know - it flies great. At this point it's not worth the effort to cut the tubes down. Maybe if I need to replace them at some point...

Default Atom 500 swashplate Question

I use the Soko Heli tool to set up my head. Try using a shorter Delrin tube to get ideal geometry.

I have a swash leveler like this but hardly use it.

I think RD Lohr makes this nifty tool.

I have set up a few FBL Atoms.

In all cases, I have ended up shortening the drive tubes by a small amount to get the setup right.

I have two Atoms and from recollection I did not have to cut the delrin tubes... All I remembered needing to do was adjust the length of the ball links by twisting it clockwise or counterclockwise. Maybe the tubes I got were already the perfect length. I do have the Compass swash leveler as displayed in the pic below:

My two Atoms (one stock, one stretched) are currently my workhorses. I almost always have one with me when I head out to fly my helis. Very reliable helis that only need lubing for maintenance from time to time along with inspecting for loose links and screws.

Would be interesting to know the length of your drive tubes. The pic above shows 40 mm, which I assume was after cutting. Mine are 44 mm.

I don't have my caliper on hand right now but using a measuring tape the distance between the center of the ball link and the center of the yoke on the head (center of the brass cylinder) is around 65cm.

Yes, I cut them down to 40 mm.
