Default Tribunus 200A fan

.

I'm setting my 200s up with a cooling fan, I'm using a futaba super duty Y into the slave port on the esc, I will connect the slave lead to the other side of the Y. The fan is what George recommended a Wild turbo fan 6 to 8.4 volts.

Looks good !! On my Diabolo 550 and my Synergy E5 and the Tribunus 120-06 I added the Scorpion fan. I ran a wire to the aux 1 on my VBar. With the Diabolo there isn't and ports in the canopy so I thought it was a good idea to run a fan.

The castle 40mm is drop in compatible as well and includes a finger guard. Just flip the guard to get rid of the logo.

Seeing temps as high as 110C on aggressive flights. So a fan is definitely needed for the Tribunus.

Also don't forget to glue the caps. They move in flight and will quickly break the cap legs and fall out.

I thought they were loose. What did you glue them with ? Shoe goo ? Or hot glue ?

I'm thinking a nice bead of RTV will do the job.

I used shoe goo to secure them. I don't have any fans installed on my 200 amp esc. Just started flying them and I have not pulled much for amps.

So is it OK to run a Y cable.....one side to the fan the other side to the slave ESC cable.....then to the RPM port on the Neo ??? My guess is it would be OK because the signal wire would still just go between the ESC and the Neo...the fan is just using power and ground ?

For those running the Tribunus with a NEO and VBC, it looks like there is a new app that allows you to turn the fan on/off automatically based on temperature telemetry from the ESC

http://www.vstabi.info/en/node/2191

(Not really an essential feature, but it does sound fun to play around with.)

Castle fan draws less current and comes with a finger guard you can flip upside down. It dropped temps by 30C!! I was easily breaking 100C and breaching 110C in higher ambient temps.

For the Temperature Switch App, how would the fan be wired in? Would you need some kind of switch module that controlled the fan's power supply based on the mixing channel output?

I think you hook the fan cable to aux 1 on the Neo.

Quote: With this app we can trigger a output channel signal depending on a teperature input (from external sensor or ESC telemetry), e.g. for a cooling fan etc.

The input is selectable and of course the thresholds for "on" and "off" can be set up seperately. The ouput is given as result of macrocell #40 and can be used e.g. as input for a channel cell at AUX1 to drive a fan esc.

All parameters are coded in cell #40 in the model - so please change values only through this app here.

For operation - we need a VBar Control, this app and of course the app which gives us the temperature (external or ESC telemetry).

I'm thinking you would need something like this with an appropriate power rating

Don't you just plug the fan into Aux 1 ? I haven't setup the macrocell #40 but on my 06-120 ESCs I have the fans powered by the Aux 1 port on the Neo.

Hi,

so its been a while since this threat was active but anyways.
is some kind of signal wire to the fan needed?
i assume it is but unsure. maybe vbar can cut power to one of the ports...

anyone using temperature switch via macrocell to a esc fan?

Regards,
Dennis

This is from Vstabi. Hook the fan to aux 1 on the Neo. You do not need a signal wire just power and ground. Download the app to your VControl.

i have asked vbar support regarding this.
It is not possible to hook it up directly to aux 1 and have it managed by the temp.

there needs to be an esc between it. Or some kind of switch like mentioned earlier in this threat.

i expected this since the powerbus is shared on all channels.

Regards,
Dennis

Channel output a signal and power, so cannot connect fan directly as it will just run, an electronic switch is required that works off the signal from the Neo.

I guess like Greg said you need a electronic switch.
