Tail Wag
I got a pair of 250 CFX's and both experience some mild tail wag - like the gain is a bit high.
Has anyone else had this problem? Any Fix for it? Thanks

Brand new? Tried lowering the tail gain a tad?

there are no gain pots on the reciever/gyro - its apparently propitiatory for this model

There are advanced settings for gain which you adjust using your transmitter. Take a look at the manual and you'll find how to do it!

I've got it, but mine a rebuild. I changed the mount tape from the provided foam to a gel type mount tape, but this made it worse. I'm thinking vibrations...probably balance out the main blades and check the main shaft for starters.
Once I do that, I'll look at the gains, but their kind of a pian to get to and change IMHO. |

Both have crashes on them. One of them I replaced the main Shaft and feathering Shaft, Main gear, and tail boom. Not much of a crash.....

If you find the tail only wags when using lots of collective then increase the tail rotor adaptive filtering (page 11 advanced settings).
If the tail wags all the time then decrease the P gain for the tail in the advanced settings. Regards, Brian Bremer Horizon Hobby, LLC. |

Interesting discovery......
Depending on the severity of the wag, I have found that using a stock battery placed 2mm closer to the main shaft will cause a little tail wag (slow) in IU1 and a little worse but more noticeable in IU2. It only occurs in a hover and will subside as soon as you start forward flight. Center of gravity does indeed have an effect on the FBL.
FYI, no wag at all in stability mode. Landed, re-positioned the battery 2mm forward and the wag was gone! To prove it, the next battery (stock) I again placed it 2mm back to the main shaft and the wag was back! Landed, same results. Safe to assume that batteries that weigh more will have a more pronounced effect on tail stability. Just my observation, your mileage may vary due to other conditions and elements! |
