Default Dx7 throttle hold reversed

When I turn on my dx7 I get the throttle hold warning. In order to turn on I have to turn throttle hold off. So basically the switch is set reversed. How does one fix this? Much thanks!

If I understand you correctly it is not reversed. It is a warning that the TH switch is active. The same should happen with the flight mode (idle up) switch.

You get a warning any time the transmitter is in anything other than normal mode when you turn it on, thats the way its designed.

No this cannot be. Whati mean is that I have to turn off throttle hold to turn on the radio. Which to me is dangerous as I could have the throttle up and by connecting the battery start blades spinning. Seems to me that the radio should prevent turning itself on until throttle hold is turned on. Mine does not. I have to be on danger mode to turn it on then flip on throttle hold. Seems really wrong to me.

Your not listening!!!

Most ESCs will not "arm" until they see the minimun throttle signal so that is not a problem.

If your ESC does not have this feature and you are still concerned you will need to replace it.

I forgot to write this before...

One possible "proper" way to power up would be:

Throttle/Collective stick down (min.),
Tx On,
then Throttle Hold On,
then Rx (heli) On,
then Throttle Hold Off,
FLY!

Land,
Throttle/Collective stick down (min.),
Throttle hold On,
then Rx (heli) Off,
then Tx Off.

This is exactly what I do. Just feels like its backwards thats all. Thanks for clarifying it.

PS. I AM listening

Its preventing you from turning it on in any flight mode thats not normal mode.

Hold is a flight mode that is not normal mode therefore you can't power it up that way.

You should be turning your transmitter on first and off last in any case.

OP's got a point though; even though I'm fully used to it, and it's not dangerous, it really is goofy. It would make more sense the other way... as in "Don't forget to switch on TH before you plug in!"

I'd like to be able to program mine...
- TH must be enabled.
- must be in Idle 1 (because I spool up that way).

I'd also like an alarm to the effect: "You've been in TH for 5 minutes and haven't wiggled a stick, perchance you packed me away with the power switched on, you idiot?"

Instead, it's got an alarm that says: "It's 2AM and you left me on after your sim session, and I might be burning your house down, so wake up everybody and hurry! run run downstairs and turn me off. And by the way, no flying for you this morning!"

Stupid transmitter. And while you're at it, please no positive pitch pump while low and inverted....? thank you.

The reason for this is pretty obvious IMO.

If you were not the type to check things and the radio allowed you to turn it on in throttle hold, you could then arm the heli and not known it's on throttle hold.

Then someone with little experience might just start flipping switches and if they are in Idle up and don't have soft start set then

Same if it allowed you to turn it on if idle up without knowing, low stick would be full throttle, neg pitch and IF your ESC armed for some reason, or it was a gasser or nitro... then I imagine things could go real bad real quickly.

Makes sense to me the way it is.

Kind of like a kid in a stereo store, the volume is all the way up but no sound, then he hits the correct input button and music starts blasting at full volume, lots of distortion.... and blows the speakers.....if that makes sense as an analogy.
