I am running 6s, 1100kv, 10 tooth, 1650 or 1700RPM with a V curve. I like the sound of it better at low rpm. It is still really agile. I have my timer set at 8 minutes.

The 10 tooth is from a Trex 600.

So I found the black stock belt I believe. Its running good got about 10 flights on it. 6s 14t 100 flat isnt enough for me with 520s. Im gonna go to 8s and govern to 2500 rpm. Im running the delrin gear do you think it with survive with the 14t? I fly pretty hard.

Your flying with 520mm blades? Wouldn't think the flight envelope would be very good with this small of a blade. My O550 is amazing at 2250 rpms on 553 Edge blades.

Probably not a great idea to push the envelope with a heli you cant get parts for. I love mine with 553 maniac blades at 1700 RPM. I am still using the same plastic main gear that came with the kit in 2008.

Yeah low rpm not gonna work for me. I fly smack. Lasted about half a flight on 8s at 2500rpm. Freaking on rails and unboggable with the 520s even with the 8s 5000. I have 2 more delrin gears just dont see them holding at all. Ive searched around not finding the info or any gears. Is there a gear from another heli I can make work?

I want to keep this going as its flybarred. The only other option I see to keep these electronics flying would be the hk550gt. Nothing else seems to come with a flybar.

Could you use the Outrage flybar head on any other machine with a 10mm mainshaft? Back in the day, they used Fusion maingears in the 550.

I have a FB head sitting in my stash that I'll never use I anyone wants it....I'll throw in all my paddles too. Maybe 20.00 to cover shipping and boxing....I'll get some pics in a while.

So ive got a heavy duty extra thick slant mod1 gear for a fusion coming. Ill have to run a 10t pinion. Pretty sure that will hold up.

Got a buncha flights on the delrin with a really tight mesh seems to be holding up even with my old maniac 553's on it. Loving this helicopter. Got my delrin slant gear for the fusion 50 in just waiting on the pinion. Gonna crank up the pitch with that bad boy.

I dusted him off today and flew it around the back yard a couple of times. It was working well so I charged the battery and went to the local school. when I powered it up a servo died. I went home and installed my last servo. took it back to the school started to really ring it out and the main gear stripped. Took it home I am in the process of installing my last main gear right now.

I may part him out---- I have a new canopy, bunch of spares FB head etc.

PM me if interested.

I have a decent collection of main gears, if you really want to keep him flying I might part with one....

No, I'm not a die hard pilot. I just like to fly. My O550 is my only heli right now. I downsized and got rid of everything else. The smaller 450's weren't fun anymore. I only get out a few times a summer and I'm not a great pilot so I stick to basics. A few loops and rolls mixed in is about as extreme as I get. Maybe a couple years down the road ill practice some more. I bought my 550 after it was out of production cause I got such a good deal on it and then started buying spares for it so I could keep it in the air for a while. I kinda went overboard with that and now have enough stuff to keep me flying for a long time, including another entire flyable ship and a complete airframe. In fact my spare ship came fro Charlie Stephens himself. He was clearing out some stuff and I asked him if he had any 550 stuff to get rid of. Ended up getting a complete 550, about 20 lbs. of spare parts and 6 canopies.....

I flew the o550 at a funfly last saturday and the YPE ESC started acting up (intermittently slowing down). I trashed it and got hobbywing V3 for it, installed it and set it up, and it was flying good. I tried a few pitch pumps and the darned main gear let go. it was my last one.

I don't know if I am going to scrap it out or go begging for a main gear. I think I need to sleep on it.

Looks like it's time to upgrade the geartrain. You got too much power!

I was not using the governor on the other ESC. So when the pitch was fed in it bogged a bit. With the governor active the motor was a lot "stiffer"

The other ESC could eat a gear and did.

Is there an upgrade?
The gears I have look to be molded nylon, No sense putting the same thing back on. I have a lathe, so I can make an adapter if need be.

I used to have a Fusion, it had a machined Delrin gear. I found a thread that said the black ones would work, but they are rare as hens teeth now, and I will need a .8mod pinion.

There were machined delrin gears for the 550. Have you ever tried one?
I always liked the molded ones better because they are quieter.

Can you post a link to them? I think they are probably extinct by now.

I sold my Fusion 50 cheap because I could not find the tail drive gear anywhere.
