xp12a and hp05 weird behaviour

Hi Guys.
I purchased a new mainboard with xp12a soldered to it and a hp05 motor.

When I connect the battery there is a musical chime of the board picking the motor up but the problem i am having is when i apply throttle (lets see half stick) there is about a 2-3 second delay then the motor will start spooling slowly speeding up.

Same thing if i hit stunt mode nothing for 2 - 3 second then the motor will slowly start to spool up.

Its as if its getting bogged down by something.

I tried installing the motor on a microheli frame and put the whole heli together but there simply was not enough power in the motor to get anything moving.

Am i missing something here Or is it possible the hp05 motor is busted?
