When I recently rebuilt mine I used the two piece original push rod with no tail wag issues. If you have easy access to a solid 1 piece 2.5mm rod you can go wrong. Either will work

hey guys, i noticed some tail wag/osc on my first few flights..was able to determine that the servo in the front of the bird is unreliable because the battery can shift a little when doing pitch pumps causing the rod to rub just enough to confuse the fbl

my bird came with a tail servo mounting plate that seats a sat right now, im going to try and get some flights, tune out my vibes, readdress the tail servo position, setup and test SL and rescue...

*sidenote: is anyone running gov? whats a good (lowish) headspeed for hovering and figure 8s

Isn't everyone running gov ?

Good I don't know, flew mine @1800rmp...

Ran into a critical rpm @2000, the whole thing wobbled violently

This was at 1100grams AUW 1250mAh LiPo's

I have my tail servo in the front position and there isn't much space between the push rod and the battery tray. It will be interesting to see if this position causes FBL issues. For the time being I am strictly sport flying. For those of you flying 3D have you noticed issues?

my bird has been only hovered and sport flown since ive gotten it, i got about 8 total flights so far and should get some today. mostly setup and trim flights but i did notice it and i thought about when smack becomes something i want to do this is the bird for it.
i have a beastly tail servo out of a gauix3L so i just got stock push rods and will upgrade that before doing 3D, plus my tail will hold better the servo is much faster than what im using now for hovering.

That sounds too familiar. I also have a Gaui X3 that I need to flash the current Ikon firmware and redo the setup before I test fly it.

Hey, that's funny - I'm trying to transplant an X3 tail on my Chase

Not because of wag, but I blew the pinion - and I refuse to play the spare-part-roulette...

is the x3 tail assembly a straight swap to the chase tail boom?

No, X3 is 15mm boom.

Found a CFtube 17/15mm to make an adapter, pinion fits like a glove.

Needs the Trex500 belt.

Call me crazy but wouldn't it just be easier to replace the pinion?

Oh yes, it would - if KDS would sell any worth buying...

Parts for me has been rubbish and I'm furious for KDS ruining a great design.

Others have had more patience/luck, but I'm more of a - burned once, twice shy type...

...and I love building frankencopters

Fair enough. I guess I am one of the lucky ones. I have not had to modify the heli or the upgraded tail assembly.

There is nothing wrong with building a Frankencopter....it could turn into the best of both worlds.

I have built and flown heli's for nine years now and I can say this is about the worse name brand bird I have bought. I have decided to just remove all my brand new stuff outta this thing and punt it into a garbage bin, new 470P ordered for my goodies, nuff said.

I'm running the robird govenor at 2800 and 3100.. I get 4.15mins at the lower headspeed and about 3.50 at the higher with 1400 gensace.. I also fly with a 3s battery which gives me a very cool sedate flight.. but I like this heli at the higher headspeeds..its a rocket.
