Vbar control and the new convergence VTOL
So a lot of the local guys at the club have been talking about the new VTOL from Horizon Hobby. I do not fly planks and hate quads however this has peaked my interest. I just left spektrum for vcontrol and converted all my helis over to neo this summer. My thought was if I ever got a plane I would use the new RX and Vplane.
Will the new Neo RX vcontrol work with something like this or is it completely tied to spektrum? http://www.horizonhobby.com/product/...basic-efl11050 |

From the manual
The Convergence aircraft is capable of using either the Spektrum™ DSMX® serial receiver (SPM4648), included in the BNF aircraft, or a standard 6-channel full range (sport) receiver. Refer to your receiver manual for correct installation and operation instructions. So will work with the VBasic.

It should as it will accept any Rx. I'm getting one of these planes for sure. I'll run it on my DX6.

I know. The DX6 is the cheaper option. At some point I would like to try a plane on my Vcontrol. Ron, we have talked a lot on the phone to get me squared away. The new Neo Rx would mean at least a call or two for me to get it figured out

I was able to get everything working and did a test flight in multirotor mode last night. Everything works as intended including self level. One issue I had was fitting the vbasic receiver inside the removable bottom of the plane, nothing an exact-o knife did not take care of.
This is my first "plane" and first time at vplane. The only confusing part from helicopters to this set up is the macrocells. Once I figured out how to assign channels it was fine. Hooked everything up exactly as stated in the Horizon Hobby manual and assigned channels appropriately. One odd note, for throttle to function, you need to select "collective" as the control. There might be an easier way but it works correctly from 0 to +100. I have not tested airplane mode yet however it appears to work correctly on the bench and I expect no issues. I might upgrade the vbasic and activate the gyros as it would be fun to fully utilize vplane but for now, I will leave it as a receiver only. |

The Convergence uses AS3X stability, so if you enabled the VPlane gyros, they probably won't communicate well. I don't want to know what happens in flight if you tried that...

^^^ I agree. From what I've read on the VTOL, it has its own flight controller and you can't use anything else in it.
You'll want to leave the Rx gyros off. |

It was a fun project converting my convergence bnf to the vbasic receiver, I must say I'm very happy to leave my other TX at home.
This has really opened my eyes up to the possibilities of the VControl/Neo, it's good stuff!
