Default What is more fun than building a TDR1?

Building two of course

Following my post:
https://www.helifreak.com/showthread.php?t=781651

I am in the process of rebuilding one TDR1 and the new one I got from Jan.
A the joy of the little bags.

Not sure if it is since it is not my first build of a TDR1 which come to 6 now including dumb thumb rebuild and dumb builder rebuild (no locktite on on of the swash arm) but this is even more enjoyable.

A cluttered picture for the pic but I am more organized do not worry.

Thanks.

I am kind of old school with instructions. I never really liked using my iPad or Surface for that purpose + they usually get all greasy too. You just cannot print an other one whereas pages are easy to reprint.

That is the way I rebuild my helicopters now. Take them all apart. I hate repairing so unless it is something minor, I rather do it as if it is a new kit.

It has saved me a few helicopters as it is easy to miss something in a repair.

Default Tail bearings

I am waiting for the parts I need to this. I have a question. Is there 3 of the TT bearings needed for the 700 size I orderd only two for my rebuild. Do I need 3?

daveyht3,
It is not an absolute must to run the (3) TT bearings.
At some point the third was added to the original set-up (I can't remember if this was done by someone that was looking to make the TT a little bit quieter or if Jan in fact added it to the design before this (?))

My March 2011 version 2010-2011 Manuel is just calling out for What appears to be 2 slid 280mm down the shaft on each side. so I put in an order for only 2 but seeing this it seems it would not only make the TT have more support straighter shaft less wobbles/vibes and less noise I think I will put in another order and get a bunch more. If my first order ever gets here been 16 days now

I have an add on in my manual for 3TT to reduce vibration. It came in an extra bag in the kit with the extra bearing

Here is the text from Jan:

Quote:
Experience has shown that a third bearing for the tail drive shaft in the boom helps against vibrations.
Therefore I recommend to use this enclosed bearing.
Mount the bearing in a way that the outer bearing is positioned in a distance of 205mm from the end of the drive tube instead of 280mm as shown on the manual page 14.
The third additional bearing has to be fixed in the middle of the shaft between the two other bearings
