Flybarless 700E Photos, Files and Setup Notes
Hi guys!
There's obviously lots of interest in running the 700E without a flybar. It occurred to me that a sticky would be a great place to consolidate our findings. So .... here we go! Post your flybarless 700E photos, files and setup notes here! If you have questions regarding a fbl 700E feel free to post those here too. It doesn't matter which system you fly. We're not looking to answer any questions about which system is best. If you feel strongly about that and need to say so - please, start another thread. The goal here is to be helpful. If you are new to fbl, there is a bit of a learning curve. Some frustration in the beginning should probably be expected. Hopefully we can keep the difficulty to a minimum and maximise the fun. Peace out!

I'll start by posting my vbar file.
I used the stock servo wheels on the inside postion. Bell crank link rod balls are also located at the inside position. My tail servo horn is currently at 13.5mm but, I that's a bit short as CW/CCW are at 120. I'll be switching to a 16mm horn soon which should be an improvement.

the only problem I see with posting the files, is that some people may be lazy or scared to create their own and say download your file, plug it into their system and then proceed to go crash it on take off as you has something reversed that they didn't.
But over all I do like your idea

That's a good point. I did create a sticky like this in another forum and, by all accounts, it was very useful especially to people who are new to fbl. That would make a good disclaimer though.

my 700
well i wont post my vbar file but I have a trex 700 with vbar, align 510kv motor castle cremations 120 hv that actually works but the first one i had went up in flames 30 seconds into the main flight. I am also running hv servos for cyclics and tail they are the newest outrage servosand I controll it with a dx8 which is also a problem child when you have a fbl unit and your radio does not center and you have unwanted servo movement it tends to cause a problem. so right now my radio is being shipped for repair as well as my 120 hv that suck no flying for a while not even the simulator I was wanting to get a cheap dx6i but time are tough and money is short so I will be sidelined. any way i went with 4000mah flight packs to save a little weight and still get 6 min flights with 30-35 % left in the packs. some of the problem I have had with the heli are the motor runs pretty hot to the touch no matter how I adjust the esc it is still hot but from what i have gathered this a known problem with the 700mx, also the stock tail had slop and i was nervous bout the tail bolts breaking so i went with the quickuk but think i am going to go with the 600 plastic tail grip in to the mystic run him on his 700 and said it works great and he is a pretty smart guy and tries different things so ill go with the plastic to try it out. I am rambling so ill shut up and see what other have to say. thus was a good idea for a sticky even though the main 700 thread is dominated by fbl anyway but it is nice to have a sticky

I'm running 1800, 1950 and 2050. One of the nice things about flybarless is that it doesn't require hypersonic headspeed to perform well. There is no real increase in agility through higher headspeeds. You do get a little less pop at lower hs but that can be compensated for by increasing collective pitch. I'm running +/-13.5* currently but I may bump that up. My experience thus far is that the tail does suffer a bit at lower headspeeds. I will be switching to some 120mm tail blades soon which should resolve this issue. My goal is to get it dialed in and popping at 1950. I think this is well within reason. 1950 should allow for close to seven minutes of basic 3d and sport flight with my Gens Ace 30c 5300's.
I have several years experience with vbar setup and tuning on a variety of machines and would like to be helpful. Let me know if you have any questions. If I don't know the answers I can probably point you toward someone who does. Thanks for posting.

Here's a link to a great write-up on Tail Tuning and Troubleshooting. The author is a consumate professional and a local guy here in the Seattle area.

Nice! Thanks for posting. I like the way you doubled up on the heli stats.

That thing must be a monster - 15* of collective and all that cyclic ... wow! Hey, I dug around looking for weights of various blades and found that the RT SG 710's are 36g lighter than Edge 713's. That probably adds to the agility of your machine.
cmar, The 700E is my sixteenth heli. I sold off my Gaui x5 and my Logo 600 to get my 700 all set up. But I still have a vbar Protos. I was going to ask you how the SE and the 700E's compare.

That must have been hard to get rid of your L600. I think the SE and 700E are the best of both worlds. The 700 is very fast on cyclic and i love how i can beat on it without it blinking. The SE is definitely the most versatile heli blade size wise and thats what really attracted me to it. Right now I have it setup with 693's at 1900 and its probably the best and easiest helis to learn autos on. Its my go to heli when i want a "relaxing" flight

Interesting. Yeah, I knew I would miss both of them and I do. Both were decked out. The x5 is a little monster. I had mine setup with the LE motor which it really didn't need. Those are two helis that may end up in my hangar again. Gaui's new helis are worth a look if you haven't already.
I got the 700E because I wanted a solid proven affordable workhorse that was purposes from conception as a true 90 class electric. I believe the 700E is that machine. Also, there are some benefits that come through buying Align. Cost and availability of parts are a couple. A depth of knowledge and support in the form of online forums, this being the best in my opinion, is another. I think it's interesting how many Mikado people, whom I regard as the most savvy in general, own a 700E. You notice that? Why do you suppose that is?

I don't have a problem with taking the canopy off when I change batteries. Also, mine is a v2 kit. To use the new push-button locking battery tray you have to remove the canopy. I believe an aftermarket accessory will be available before long that will lock the tray from the rear.
I'm sure you could mount the esc on the rear and maintain short battery lengths. I used a 23W soldering iron to extend the negative esc lead by a little less than 4". But, my battery leads are also fairly short at roughly 3".
