Unless you're comfortable with the advanced tuning parameters, try to stick with the basics, which in the majority of cases ends up being all a pilot needs to adjust to suit their preferences. Best of luck with the event!!

Maiden went well. Some "jitters" or slight "bouncing" of the tail at 1950rpm. Smoother at 1850 rpm.

Have some video of the maiden but it will have to wait until later. I have another party to attend.

Very fast around center. Just using the default expo rate in the Vortex. no expo on my 14SG at this time.

Impressed and a little overwhelmed. The heli seems a lot more responsive than last week!

Yes, all the same features as the nano.

Mark,

Glad the maiden went well. When you get more time, I'm sure you'll be able to tune out the bounce.

Guys, I added a video to the 2nd post in this thread. Depending upon how in touch you are with your heli and/or the feel of the Vortex, you might not even notice a difference between the different sensors. As you can see from the video with Bert flying, it is just as capable a unit as the first two. I'm sure as guys get their hands on this and the videos start pouring in, any apprehension or doubts will all be erased.

Looking to finalize my order and hopefully you guys can clarify a couple things. I'll be using this on a Gaui X3 so I'm using just one DSMX Sat and was planning on using the Spartan Gov..

Do I need to purchase any additional cables for the Sat and my hobbywing RPM sensor to connect to the VX1e?

Thanks in advance.

One satellite is fine, no adapter needed. But the e-gov has not been released yet, so for time being you will be using your ESC gov or plain throttle curves.

5 more flights on the x7. I planned on setting aside the whole morning "tuning" but instead it was business as usual. weirdly I was distracted on how piro flips were so predictable. normally I like the head gain a little low for better "flow" but then its a little more of a fight in piro flip. not so much the case this time, thanks again.Click image for larger version

The nitro gov already has it. Obviously it will follow through to the electric variant too.

I haven't heard of anyone using it on a .90 size nitro yet, though the unit is spec'd for use on nitro helis. You will want to make sure that the engine is running properly and tuned so as to minimize vibrations caused by an out of balance clutch, overly rich mixture, etc.

As much as I love the DataPod, I'm actually anxious to try out the bluetooth connectivity now that I have a decent phone.

The DataPod will always be with me though, as I will not be strapping my phone to the heli when I want to use Remote Adjust.

The only thing stopping me from buying right this second is the lack of an e governor. I currently fly Ikon but have struggled to get crisp stops, especially in tail down tic tocs. Would love to try the spartan out but have heard the gov feature in castle esc's is terrible and not worth using. Any eta on a working e gov?

I actually like the Castle gov, in fact I prefer it over the YGE. I got so sick of the YGE gov that I've been running my Gaui with gov OFF, I'm just using shallow V-curves for throttle with Cyclic>Throttle mixing. The heli performs great! Waiting on the Vortex e-gov doesn't phase me. Don't get me wrong, I am anxious for it to come, I just don't lose any sleep over waiting for it.

If you've never tried the Castle gov, maybe you should. You can't always go by what others say, maybe they couldn't get it right, maybe they hated Castle for some other reason........but maybe your experience will be different.

I've had great experiences with the ICE Lite 50A and ICE2 80HV, both using the Castle Set RPM gov mode. I've logged numerous flights on both ESCs, and the performance is pretty darned good. A couple years ago, some guys were slamming Castle so bad that I felt compelled to make a video strictly showing Castle gov performance.

Anyway, hold off if you wish, or buy now and wait for it to come. Either way, the Vortex awaits you!!
