Align RPM sensor help.
Hi,
I'm building my first nitro heli and I've installed the Align RPM sensor. I'm not sure if it's working correctly. I don't have any fuel yet, so I'm trying to make sure everything is good on the bench. I switched the red and black wire and installed a servo connector. I have it plugged into RPM on the NEO. If I turn the head by hand I'm not getting any RPM reading on the VBC. Maybe it has to be a certain speed to pick it up? I hooked up my computer and looked at the "magnet" led. It's a constant green unless I VERY SLOWLY turn the clutch bell by hand. Then it turns off briefly when one of the magnets passes by. I have to do this very slowly. Again, I get no "current RPM" on the governor screen when I turn the head by hand. I know the magnets are installed correctly. I've played with the distance of the sensor and get the same results. Is what I am seeing normal, or do I have an issue? Is there a better way to check if the sensor is working on the bench? Thanks! R.J. |

Hey I found this statement I have not tried it.
You can go to Model Status/Gov Info/Active and look at the small square to the left , turn your motor by hand to check if the gov sensor is working etc. Here is the link https://www.helifreak.com/showthread.php?t=682952 |

Thanks for the link. The GOV info screen was what I was looking for. I was in the set-up screen looking for that little light.
I get the light to go off if I move the head very slow, but it's a bit inconsistent. I'll keep playing with it. Thanks! R.J. |

No problem. If it makes you feel any better, I actually set up two nitros for my first time with align sensors. I did not check to see if they were working. I didn't know of a way how at the time. Once you spool up you immediately see the rpms on the vcontrol. I was successful with both. I just made sure the magnets were in right, switched the positive and negative wires, vcontrol settings good and I mounted the sensor as close as possible to the magnet.

make sure you set the correct sensor config to 1 for one magnet up and one down.
