Default So Chaos helis....

I'm looking for a 700 size heli, because really, who isn't? But anyways, I know somebody who bought the 700 FB with the scorpy motor and is willing to sell it to me. I'm looking for some info about these models. Are they dead on to align parts? How's the quality? Are they worth the cheaper cost vs. a true Align?

If he purchased the Scorpion edition then he probably fitted it out with his own electronics. The parts are interchangeable with the Align. The Head and Tail units are made from aircraft grade 7075 aluminum which I understand this to be better than the stock align head. As for flight performance flyinghigh450 has posted alot of videos where he is cranking on his pretty hard. I do not think you will be dissapointed.

He hasn't done anything to it. In the box still, wants to fund a different project.

I can tell you it will fly very nicely with the Hyperion DS20 series servos on it. Before I went fbl i was using a GY520 tail gyro with and ICE2 120 ESC. Its now a BeastX FBL bird and is very sweet...

Check the top thread for 700 flight videos.

I am in the end stages of the Chaos 550e build, you will be happy with the Chaos 700. Very nice heli. If you need servos, check GrandRC and get the Align DS610x3 = DS650x1 4 pack of servos for $189.00, that is $90.96 cheaper than buying them individually.

Honestly. I had a chaos 700...I flew the thing 4 times. If you read through the forums. Had all kinds of issues with it. Its not good quality. But it flies ok...I sold mine and got a compasss 7hv. Much better machine. But....more money. Also...the chaos 700...its version 1....if you compare it to the real align...you can see why its cheaper. I wouldn't skimp out and save a few bucks vs align...in the end I had to buy an align swash...align skids...aligh push rod...align pitch slider...the savings...all gone

Sorry to hear you had that type of experience. My experience was quite the opposite everything went together like clock work, even the conversion to FBL. I video'd the build which is out on youtube.

I was waiting for the Chaos 700E FBL to become avaliable. After a waiting a couple months, I bought the Align V2 and am very happy with it. I have not flown it but the build is going great, just waiting for tax $ to get the Receiver (AR7200BX) and some batteries. For what it's worth, I did put a Chaos swash on my 500 this past summer, for about half the price, after my second Align swash failed. It works w/o issues and is good quality.

I've been flying the Chaos 600 super combo for several months, all stock parts fly well. I've since added KDE tail upgrade parts and some KBDD tail blades (as well as full conversion to a dedicated AP rig), but in my experience with Cliff and RC Aerodyne, you will not be disappointed. Check out some of the posts by nightflyr, he really knows his stuff and has used the Chaos kits for several of his creations. My next heli will definitely be a Chaos 700 FBL. (Just can't beat the quality/price/customer service)
