Default Taranis lost signal failsafe

I have been out of RC helis for awhile because I have only been fly DLGs the past 3 years but I decided to move the last Heli I own (Trex 550 flybar) to my Horus to get it flying. From what I remembered with Spektrum was that during failsafe throttle would go to zero and all the rest of the channels would maintain the last known position. After reading up on it, It seems like the X8R can only do maintain all channels to last position, set all of them to a predetermined position, or send no signal. I can't seem to find any information that mentions being able to set an X8R throttle to 0 and all other channels maintain last known position. Is it possible or will I have to set all to a predetermined position?

Which OS are you using on your Horus? FrOS or Open-TX? I can help you with Open-TX.

On the first tab in Companion or first screen for the model setup, there is a fail safe setup. You can set values there.

Don't remember how it works on FrOS. Sorry.

Or, if you don't set it up in the model setup, you can do the following. (From the X8R manual)

1. Bind the receiver first and turn on both the transmitter and the receiver;
2. Move the controls to the desired failsafe position for all channels;
3. Press briefly the F/S button on the receiver (less than 1 second). The Green LED will flash twice, indicating the failsafe position has been set in the receiver.

I am using the one true OS... OpenTX .

I am aware that you can set all channel values to go to a failsafe position in the GUI or directly on the X8R with the button. My question is more about that you don't seem to be able to have a mixed mode where throttle channel can be set to go to a set value 0 (ok -100) and the rest of the channels will hold last value seen from the Tx. Either you set them all to some value in the GUI (or via the button on the X8R), you set them all to hold last value seen, or you set all channels to not send a signal. I am just trying to find out if that is true or if there is some mixed fail-safe mode that I am just not finding in the GUI.

I understand now. There is no way to do mixed mode that I'm aware of.

I go to -100 on throttle and 0 everything else out. Although, I've never had a signal failure before.

Thanks. I set throttle to -100 and all the other channels to zero except the gyro gain. I am sure it will be fine. I never had an issue on Spektrum (using Spektrum since 2006) or FrSky with gliders (using FrSky since 2 years ago). I don't expect to have any in the future either .

Default Yes, I think you can!

With OTX 2.1.9 & D16 protocol, select CUSTOM failsafe mode then SET to specify each channel individually, Specify a specific value (-100) for the throttle channel, then for all other channels (press and hold ENTER) to choose HOLD (or NONE = no pulse).

I have not verified that this actually works, but there you go!

Note that these options are also available when editing a model in CompanionTX.

Thanks! That is precisely what I was looking for. I didn't think to long press a button.

OTX is funny that way. Each button can do so many things and you just have to try in different places and occasionally get lucky.
