Well after bashing mine up a bit i finally have a grasp on it and bought some replacement parts. The stock canopy was trashed and the blades finally broke. but here it is after the repairs.

mCPX skids
Astroid Designs mCPX Hyperion 240 battery mount
Hyperion G3 240mAh 25C
RAKONHELI blade grips
RAKONHELI CF tail fin
Red blades
8mm transistor/op amp heatsink for main motor
Spektrum DX7s
TUF Glide lube
White tape is for contrast. Helps with orientation.

Having so much fun with this. On average, 7 minute flight times with aggressive outdoor flight. Upgrading to the DX7s has helped tame this hummingbird of a heli, with expo and higher quality sticks. Simulator (RealFlight 6) has helped a lot too. Left turns are the same as right turns with the MM mod. This is my first RC helicopter, been flying for 1 month. Next up seems like I have to try the mCPX tail boom and motor.

Thanks, there's a little problem with the paint, it tends to rub off when you handle it for a while.

Default MSRX with MCPX skids and 300 mah Nano tech

I put the Mcpx skids and nano tech battery on my msrx. I will post pic later. But after doing that the heli will only hover inches off the ground. Perhaps the battery is too heavy. Any thoughts?

Sounds like your battery is no good or your main motor is going bad. Mine totes a 300NT like a beast.

So, do all/most/none of the MCPX parts work on the MSRX? Thanks

Just looking for some new blades (found orange at amainhobbies.com)
Larger battery (more flight time and possibly a boost in power)
New canopy (haven't found anything other than stock thus far)

Any help is appreciated. Take care

Wow... I knew it was longer, but that pic really shows just how much longer it is vs. stock. No wonder it helps...

Tail assemblies from the mcpx will work and are better, the skids will work as well if you want to use the bigger battery's, xtreme heli mcpx canopys look good (although youll have to move the holes). Dont be afraid to modify other things

Sounds good...

So what is the advantage of the mcpx tail boom? Also, what size of battery will the mcpx landing gear accomidate?

Thanks

Tail boom is longer and the tail rotor blade is better, makes the rudder inputs crisp and predictable. You can tote 200's, 240's, 250's, and 300's ..there may be a few more. I do know that the stock eflight 200's for the mcpx will fly for as long as the msrx has any business being in the air..any longer and you'll burn the motor out quicker

Longer flight times=hot main motor
Crappy stock main motor+heat= a new main motor....ya feel me??

Stick with 4min flights and itll last longer.

Default MRS X Mod batteries

Hey Guys,

Wow, are you all ahead of me! I'm sneaking my msr x out of my birthday gift box before the big day - have flown it 4-5 times when nobody's been home. What a blast for a bored 120 SR guy...

soniczen I'd love to learn from you and others what battery mods you made and what charger you use for those bigger ones. Do you find that they weigh the bird down at all. Might be well worth it to go from 4 to 7 minutes flight times...

Talking My MSR X and Carrying Case

Here is my Msrx and carrying case that I made to carry to the office for lunch flying! The heli is pretty much stock with the excepting of the red blades and Mcpx tail boom (has done wonders in left turns). I am waiting on my red RKH blade grips and swash. This was my first heli and favorite although I have since purchased an SR120.

The case is a 13x19 aluminum case that I picked up at Home Depot for $15 dollars...yes $15 bucks. I bought the foam padding at Walmart for $8 bucks. It's not the prettiest of cutt-outs, but it works to keep the contents well protected.
