This couldnt have come at a better time......

My poor/broken SR has been in the trunk of my car for 3 days while im waiting for parts. I have so not been looking forward to figuring out the disassembly and here you laid it out for us perfect. Now im actually eager to go get my bird and start taking it apart.

,QR, thanks very much, that was great, should be a "sticky"..Could you show how to replace feathering shaft and how much to tighten grip bolts, mine seemed to move in direction when I tried to tighten them before I watched the amazing video. I got everything but that.. Dave/ or do you just do like you did and just tighten the bolts "tight", I didn't know that you needed 2 wrenches.. TX

I could have had more detail on the spindle/feathering shaft in the vid. No worries though.

In the second video when I show taking off the blade grips, just completely pull out the spindle. Unscrew the bolt/screw on the other side to keep the spindle free. You can use pliers to hold the spindle if the screw is on tight.

You can check the spindle if it's true/round by rolling it on a flat surface.

Once you assemble the spindle and blade grips on, make sure those bolts/screws at the ends are pretty tight, if you are using lock-tite you don't need them super tight, as the lock-tite will do the work once it's dry.

Q: you are a life saver along with the other top "10" in the class..Ya'lls advice and teaching is what allows us to grow with this sport. Now that I know how to rebuild this bird alot of the fear is gone, now it's just money and thats not all bad...Hell, I spent a fortune smoking for 35 years, quit 4 years. Have saved a pile of parts. Your battery seems to be further back than mine.

Is it greater than the original 1000 mamp battery?

That's the stock SR battery, I have it further back for CoG, because of the fg canopy I fly with is a bit heavier.

I keep the stock plastic e-flite canopy for looks when she's not up in the air, it's a pretty canopy, but they shatter on crashes. I fly with a fiber glass cheapo canopy, which has lasted more then 15+ crashes from my T-Rex 250 and now SR.

ive seen the suggestion that one does not to de-solder the tail rotor connector in order to feed the wire through to remove the wire through the boom when replacing this.
My question is how do i remove the cable from the jst connector, ive searched everywhere and unable to find any info.
is this possible?

QR, your advice is great, yet I did find a post that told you that if you depress the metal keepers ontop of ths JST plug the wires easily pull out...they do. All you do to replace is put an exacto blade or teeny screwdriver blade under keeper that you depressed and pull it back up..then insert.You are back in business. Of all people I found it EASY......Dave

take a straight pin and depress the contact tabs and slide the wire out of the connector. You may have to use the straight pin to push it out some. Before reinserting the wire into the jst plug, lift up on that tab a bit so it will "click" when you slid the wire back in.

Good job on the video's One thing I would add is to make sure any part you are going to loctite, is clean of grease and oil. I use alcohol. Also the washers that go against the bearings have a ridge on them. The ridge should be facing the bearing. And if your head is a little sloppy, add another shim to each side..... I am using 4 and the head is solid. J

To lubricate the head, what is the best grease to use?

The head does not use thrust bearing like the larger heli's do.... so grease is usually not used. I use a light oil, the same oil I use on the main shaft and swash... you can get this "bearing oil" anywhere. If I use grease, I use the thrust bearing, white or clear grease you can get at the hobby stores, used for thrust bearings. Be sure to keep any oil or grease out of the ends of you feather shaft, otherwise the loctite will not work. I use a fine q-tip I picked up at the electronics store.... dip in alcohol and clean the effected areas....j
