Default Does this tail need any maintenance or set -up?



Does the tail on my x-cell ion need any periodic maintenance or set-up? it sounds good has a bit of a groan when spinning mains by hand but just want to ask before i go and take it out. thanks in advance for any help.

Yes. The bevel gears do wear. Just open, do a visual inspection, and assuming gear mesh felt ok in the first place, just re-grease and wrap it up again.

Thanks, i didn't know if i should open it up or not.
Do they require shimming like a car diff.? or if they have play u just replace them?

Hopefully i can still find parts for this old bird somewhere. Thank for your help. happy flying

They require shimming. The kits used to come with appropriate shims. Should not be a problem to get them.
However, check it first. If the kit was built well, then most likely you wont need any.
