Possible to convert the new forza550 to a forza700 belt edition?
Hi all, I am a big fan of JR helis and own forza700, 450ex, and E6-550. I look forward to learning more about the new forza550.
However I learned that the new 550 is as expensive as the forza700. I understand the reason (almost identical manufacturing cost and beefiness) but find it hard to swallow the price as a 550size bird. So I look for a reason to justify it, here is one. How about stretching it to forza700/800 belt edition? From the preview pics, I feel it is strong enough to compete with logo 690. The battery compartment looks like it can hold two 6s5300mah batteries with plenty of space to adjust for CG. I estimate the total weight would be 4.5-4.7kg How to do it? Looking at the structure, I believe a DIY carbon tube, carbon rod, and longer 700-800 belt will do. I can find DIY carbon tube and rods easily. The belt might takes some trial and error (JR E12/E12EX/other brands)? The result? It can probably do medium-high rpm 3D flights for 10+ minutes or low rpm flights for 30-40minutes. Any thoughts on this conversion?

That would be an awesome project. Wouldn't a Forza 700 boom and push rod work.
I do have one thing I would worry about. The head of the 550 is a 'DFC' style head (that is something one likes or hates) but it sits quite low on the heli. Chances are that if you increase blade length and boom length that boom strikes are likely to happen. Also, I think the tail ratio needs to be sped up if you are planning on running it at 700 types headspeeds...

Regarding dfc, I do not like the concept of dfc however my forza450ex with a dfc head runs extremely smoothly during high or low rpm. So I am confident that the DFC by JR will be properly designed and tested. Regarding boom strike, that is a valid point too. For that, I am thinking getting a forza700 main shaft. For tail authority, speeding up is one way to go, however installing a 3-blade 115mm tail will certainly do the trick if money is of no concern.

It seems like a well thought out plan... Go for it if your finances let you!
Would be an awesome build thread...

after a discussion with local flyers, I got a feeling that forza550 could be the base platform for 550sx/550se/600sx/600se/690sx like mikado logo birds. If that is the case, it seems JR E8 won't have a dedicated replacement. Want a bet? Beer?

With the nitro and this electric coming.
It has the 700 size drive train. Room for 12 packs. It would make since for a factory 600 conversion. A Forza 700-800 stretch kit is already available aftermarket. Even has a nice boom cover included.

Could you post a link for the 800 stretch kit?

But that is just a boom, nothing else. The other post suggested a kit with the complete sh'bang... Was kinda wondering how that looked...

I can't seem to find the link for the full stretch kit.
It was a German site for sure though. I will do some more digging.
