Default Takumi

Haven't seen a thread for this one yet. Let's talk...

Seriously cool execution IMO, and I know many will disagree, but up until this nothing has touched a Goblin in the looks department. This makes a Goblin look like a turd.

Best looking helicopter I've seen, and a really unique design! Even if it stays a one off, its awesome.

Now my mind recalls seen this heli before. Now it's coming closer to a release?

Bad to the bone, no doubt.

Perhaps the horizontal motor allows the profile to be slimmer. From a power transmission perspective, the bevel gearing it will require would be pretty inefficient compared to most other configurations.

Those molds, look at those molds!! They look as good as the heli!!

Personally, those landing gear detract from it. The red and white with a tail fin looks great.

But the mecahnical layout is so cool!!! I was just talking with a freind last night about how hard it must be for a heli company to come out with something new to keep sales going. This is certainly different, and VERY COOL!!

I like it!!

I would be interested if it ever comes to production.

Made in Canada if I remember....

These guys pop up once i awhile on my facebook feed. Beautiful heli! I doubt they spent that much money on molds for a 1 off. Ill bet the price tag will be steep!

As mentioned previously I'm sure the price tag will be steep... But in a market dominated by SAB, and this being the closest thing (aside from avant) to compete both aesthetically and mechanically I think we can expect to see this bird become main stream.

I think it's this kind of innovation and out of the box thinking a lot of us drool for.

That does look nice! I wonder how well that CF canopy shows up in the air?

Only, if they produce the kits in a reasonable amount of time for a reasonable price and have parts and customer support. Having a bad ass model and making it main stream are two different levels of difficulty. Avant has a bad ass model, but they couldn't seem to communicate with anyone or make parts. The only reason that Henseilet and Minicopter can afford to charge those prices is because they take care of their customers. I've never heard one person say they didn't get good support from those companies. They talk to the guys that design them themselves. Synergy too, a little more expensive, but good customer support.

If this guy can do all of those things, then maybe, but to compete with SAB for market share is next to impossible.

On a side note, what do you think it can take for a motor? Looks like it would be limited on your size options.

I think you're 99% right. Support, and parts supply is paramount. Also these are the very things that did Avant in. That said, it's not impossible to compete with SAB, Avant very well could have had a good chunk of share if they released the 600 they said they were going to and continued parts supply and development of new platforms. The Takumi has the design elements that can compete. If support and parts supply is there the ONLY issue I see is the canopy / boom is structural and could get costly. But then again this is a very exotic heli and I don't think many would be thrashing on it at first.

Edit, looked like one of those pictures had a 4535 Xnova... I can't tell for sure though... Edit again... Nevermind that's a pyro, if it's the Pyro 800 even a 4535 should have no issues fitting.

Cool, at least you can have motor options. It's not for me. There are a few things I don't like about it, mostly the cost of the carbon fuselage and I don't care for the landing gear. I really love doing autos and I don't know how well this machine would take my iffy autos. It's definitely cool, but more like a concept car for me. I like the engineering, the fact that it's different, but wouldn't buy one. I'm kinda that way with goblins too though. Of course, I said I wouldn't buy an Align too so.........

P.S. I would have bought a Mostro 600 Nitro in a second. I'm one of the dozen or so bummed out people that liked it.

I would be all over this if it were available as a traditional pod and boom. Talk about a featherweight...
