Default KST DS215MG V3

Hi folks,

Did anyone try this servos on the 470L?

I was wondering if it fits well on the 470, and about the quality of them.

Yes
Nice 470 servo I use them. They center well and have zero slop. Not HV but speed at their max V are fast. For HV KST 315.
Tail you need something different.

I'm using 4 KST DS215MG v3.0 on Trex 470LM (tail servo too), work perfect. I use the KST white arm, maybe more damage if crash but it will not "auto" break on the air , the Tarot breakable servo arm is designed for 325-360mm main blades

I found the best way to install the servos was to release the top bearing block, put the servos in and then put the top bearing block back on. A bit of a pain after installing the mainshaft and bottom Jesus bolt.

If you want to try and force them in you might find the cables getting damaged.

I had to do the same with my KSTs, it is a tight fit but they work.

I installed the servos onto the bearing blocks before I put them in the frame.
Made it very easy.
Then when I put the blocks in the frame, I just backed the screws off a hair to allow some movement, put them on the frames and tightend everything back up once I checked the alignment.
That was with the KST MS 325 servos.

I have used the breakaway arms on 380s and many people I know have also. Breaking in flight is a non-concern.

Anyone else can testify that the kst 215mg works for tail for the 470l?

I currently use it for tail and at the moment I can't get a solid tail but I am not using the upgraded shafts and tail blades yet..

I'm using one with a vbar, no issues but I'm not demanding as far as tail control.

The DS215MG v3 seems to be rated at 4.5V-8.5V. I think that counts as HV?

They are rated at 7.4 max so it is not HV but not far from it :p

Anything over 6V is considered HV. Also, they run just fine on 8.4V. I ran mine on direct 2s LiPo for a long time.

they are rated to run off a 2s lipo just like all other hv sevos, so that's up to 8.4v.
7.4v is just the nominal

Well if it's the case I'll happily increase my Bec voltage from 7.4 to 8.4V

Was looking for a definitive answer on maximum voltage for the DS215MG V3 and came across this thread. Seems odd to rate it for 7.4V max when the idea of a HV servo is to allow use of a 2S LiPo which requires a max of 8.4V.

So that's good news the DS215MG V3 can handle 8.4V. Wanted to run my BEC at 8.4V, but never saw anything over 7.4V for that servo. So yeah I'll be increasing my BEC.
