Default Welcome to the Tandem and Multi Rotor Section!

Hello everyone!

Will James has been kind enough to add a section dedicated to tandem helicopters. Hopefully, we will be able to gather and compile good, solid information to help everyone who owns, or is interested in owning, one of these unique helicopters. Right now, I know of a few commercially available aircraft; the Hirobo Chinook/Sea Knight (Vertol), and the MS electric Sea Knight. The guys at Tech Model Products are also working on a production electric Chinook, and there are a lot of guys out there who have built their own tandem designs from scratch.

I asked Will to put this section together since the information on these birds is scattered on the web under many different topics, often under inconsistent keywords. I also wanted a place to pass on my continued experiences flying the Hirobo tandem, as well as getting tips from MRC’s Jeff Green and others who have been flying tandems for a while. I would appreciate hearing any information or questions that any of you have. As I said, I’d like this to be a ‘one stop shop’ for all information on tandems.

As many of you know, flying tandems is not for the ‘faint of heart’. But by sharing information and experiences, I believe we can help get everyone who’s interested through the initial learning curve. And even though I doubt we will ever see a tandem competing in the 3D Championships, it’s anyone’s guess as to how far we, as a group, can take this thing.

Gentlemen… start your keyboards.

Glad to see this group. Hope this is kept to be about tandems with the rotors on non-coaxial rotor shafts and does not get over run with talk about coaxial tandems that are being sold as toys/entry level machines.

I have a MS Sea King that is stalled in the building stage. All the electronics are on hand, now I just need the motivation and time to complete it. Seeing this style of copter talked about is certainly getting me excited to get back at it.

Default Is this topic dead?

Is there anyone out there? Looks like this topic has died. I'm in the process of building a Hirobo CH-47 'Hook'. Anyone interested in passing on ideas. I'm always looking for help.
