Default Black gears vs white gears?

I'm doing some winter maintenance on my old Trex 600 EFL. I found some minor cracks around the hub of the tail drive gear on main shaft. I'm only going to replace the main tail drive gear, is the new black gear compatible with the original white front drive gear?

Cracking is usually caused by over tightening the retaining bolt, it's largely cosmetic.

Providing you get the correct 'mod' number / tooth count then they are compatible

I assumed they were compatible, just wanted to make sure.

Yes the hairline cracks are around the bolt area of the hub, probably wouldn't cause a problem. I figured as long as I had the gear out, I would just replace it and keep original as a spare.

Yeah, the black was supposed to be stronger. If they were stronger then it wasn't by a whole lot because plenty of people stripped the black bevel gears.

Both are now superseded by the 'latest and greatest' red gears anyway, which are claimed to be stronger still.
