Default The next level of Lift

First there was the twin heli lady lift.
Then the magnetic hoverboard just an inch or two off the ground.
Then the two hoverboards 10+ feet over water.
Then the multicopter ski lift.

Now the Megadrone base jump:

Watch first ever parachute jump off megadrone in dramatic footage (1 min 49 sec)

A taste of things to come

Things to come?

Not likely in the USA as there are at least a half dozen flight rules broken there.
No humans allowed.
Over 400 feet.
Location not permitted.
over 400 ft?
over 55 lb.
Flying over people.
Touching an RC in flight.

Maybe if its registered as an aircraft but Im thinking the FAA would poo poo that as its an RC.

But, I can almost see firefighters or military dropping in on this style of platform.

None of those things I highlighted are against the rules (i.e. AMA Safety Code) in the U.S. You can fly over 400ft high. You can get an AMA waiver for models over 55lbs. And, there is no rule/law about "touching" an R/C model in flight. People hand launch and, more relevantly, catch models all the time.

From the AMA safety code:

7. Under no circumstances may a pilot or other person touch an outdoor model aircraft in flight while it is still under power, except to divert it from striking an individual.

Key term is "under power". Models usually aren't under power when they're caught at the end of a flight. And, when hand launching under power, the model isn't in flight yet until the person lets go. You only posted about "touching an RC in flight" in general and that's not true for all cases.

And in this case, he wasn't touching the aircraft; he was hanging from a suspended handle.

Good point, but I bet that wouldn't hold up for one second under legal scrutiny.

Dramatic Footage?

For someone crazy enough to try that, I thought he pulled the chute awful quickly

I haven't jumped let alone base jumped myself. But it did appear there was an opportunity to make it more interesting. As soon as the chute was pulled and the jumper just kept gliding it felt like a let down after all that effort. Maybe the base jumpers thought it was just too crazy a stunt!
