RIck, I just had another thought, it would really be cool if you could "stamp" your Avatar into the trays... although probably not cost effective.

I'm just realizing as I lay out my bird, that the tray is reversable. I may use it reversed and have it not hang out the back. Anybody see any issues with doing that?

Two things come to mind. First, you will be directly under the main gears (static heaven) and second, when you start running your wiring, it might get tricky. But it could be done.

Hi everyone,

I have the rdlohr mount on my 450.

I just got a (dumb) question ... Most of the persons here are really good in tuning their helis, the best proof is the static issues ! by the way; I'm just wondering why they pay 16$ for a gyro mount which is a simple piece that they can cut with a dremel or something like that; what is the added value to get rdlohr ? It's like if someone was buy a single piece of something they can do themself to fix the static issues...

just curious,

ps: of course, supporting rdlohr (who I'm sure is a great guy that is involved in the rc community) is not a good answer

Jurassic5, Why don't you explain the logic behind a $16 piece of plastic. You have one right ?

I could give you the answer, but you may not like it.

What he's saying is don't flame a brothers business. Rick is taking the time to cut sand polish to fit, Center drilling a 2mm hole and supplying the hardware, taking and keeping up with orders and shipping. If you want to make it yourself, by all means, do it yourself, but don't criticize someone who is running a busy for himself. That SUCKS !

Its a valid question and it comes down to where you want to spend your time. I make mounts that are sure to fit and I back them up 100%. I charge not so much for the Lexan, but for my time spent making them, answering email and shipping them out. For this particular one I have to buy hardware too.

I'm fine with anyone making their own. Many people have made their own version of most of my mounts. By the time you have one made, you may decide you would have been better off buying mine or you may be happy with your own. The main thing is that you get your heli flying and you are having fun.

As far as the fins go, they are many times stronger than the stock version and a bit longer to better protect the tail blades. Newbies that bounce on their fins get tired of the CF ones busting so they buy mine. The colors are pretty bright too. I really don't push them much because I have to put so much time into making them. They are more hobby than anything else. I kind of groan when I get an order for them but I like seeing people fly with my parts.

I've sold many mounts over the last two years so it must make sense to a lot of people. The cool part is that in all the parts I have sold, not a single person has ever stiffed me. Heli people are definately a cut above the norm.

Rick

Oh and I wish that someone was selling parts to fix the static issues for a reasonable price. I would love to buy a metal boom block for the 500. I am ordering a metal tail and metal bearing mounts.

Do a search on google or any search engine for rdlohr and you will see "My Mounts" are pretty wide spread. I'm starting not to appreciate your tone or your disrespect. This is the freak and we stay respectful here.

Come on now no need to bust his chops, he offers a product that some dont have the equipment and/or dont want to go through the trouble. It is simple if you would like one then buy one and if you dont then dont. In my case I did buy one and do not regret it all.

Support is what HeliFreak is all about. Could you make one cheaper? Probably. Personally, I like the mounts and ReadyHeli is out. When they are back in stock, you can bet it will be in my cart. It really bugs me when people start posting that they can make something offered by a member cheaper, etc. Time and effort go into fabrication on any hand made part. The price to me is reasonable for the quality and the fact that I don't have to make it myself. Don't like don't buy it.
