Default lightweight E5

just got my E5 fixed up, wondering if anyone use before Mini servo on the cyclics and tail, kst x15 looks good and JR ES01 came up with 28g mini servo overall can shed 160g on servos weight alone

Specifications
JR - JRPS02418 - ELS01 QRS Swash Servo: 500-550 class

Dimensions: 23.5 x 16 x 34 (.92x.62x1.33 in)
Weight: 28g (0.98oz)
Torque (kg/cm): 4.8V/59 oz/in
Speed (sec/60°): 0.11
Torque (kg/cm): 7.4V/91oz/in
Speed (sec/60°): 0.07

my current setup is 4pcs KST X20 servo which is 70g per piece, if i get the JR ES01 servo will be 120g ( 4pcs ) vs 280g of KST X20
Custom heli part does sell the mini servo adapter to standard size without affecting the linkage lenght. total shed off 160g

motor wise is it good to use a 4020-1100kv which also can shed off 80g from using 4025 1100 which weight 380g .

total both servos and motor can save about 160g ( servo ) + 80g motor = 240g .

paper calculation

Kit + canopy = 1750g
Motor 4020 1100 = 300g
JR ES01 4pcs servo = 120g
Blade 570mm + 95mm = 235g
100a Hobbywing V3 + connector = 120g
Lipo 5200mah 45c = 820g

RTF aprox weight 3.35kg or 7.38 lbs

Never tried it on the Synergy E5 but my Diabolo 550 uses MKS HV9767 / HV9780 mini servos and the XNova 4020-1100 motor. It works great.

With the Synergy E5 I would think about using higher voltage than 6S.

everything went very well.. no sudden suprise during flight.. had 3 flights on 2260rpm 2380rpm.
its was suprisingly didnt feel heavy at all the whole flight .
flight time is about 3.5mins 3.75v landing.

it flies alot better than other 550size heli i hve flown. will do few more flights and start my conversion to see if there any differences .

overall.. 5 star heli .
the canopy is hard to fit in on the front side . jus wish its a pin style front canopy easier to fit in.

i guess very soon Syn516 will be in my fleet too

just love the quality of the heli

Awesome you maiden went well !!! I just love the E5. It flies so nice.

When I built mine Dennis with The Heli Farm sold me some slide in type latches for the front two pins. I think they are from the N7? It works great.

Is that backwards? should the female side be frame mounted? Can the female side be frame mounted?
Would you do me a favor and measure how wide the female side is? (might try and use it on my N9)

I looked on the manual, looks like that is how its designed. female on the canopy.

I would think frame mounted would be sure it didn't rotate- or at least have less of a chance, but I'll bet there isn't enough room for the bolt head to clear the post if mounted that way.

SmittyLube
The female side is keyed to fit a slot in the N7 and 766 canopy. I use those mounts on my E7 and soon on the E5 i just got. I just mounted it with the stock rubber grommet installed in the canopy. Tightening it down keeps it from rotating as long as it's lined up
correctly on installation.

Looked at putting them on my E9 (N9 conversion). Will take some modifying of the front canopy mount and the plate at the front of the frames. And maybe some dremel action on the canopy as well.

Yes Chuck - I was looking to do the same on my N9. not a lot of room to get it in there. I have an extra mount I could sacrifice but it looks like too much work.

I thought about slotting the stock mount to fit the female part, but if it isn't tight it will rattle a bunch.

I figure just screw it in and go fly. I don't pull my canopy off each flight so I gave up, however it would be nice with an easier solution.

Just FYI you can build the e5 into a 700 for very little added weight of the 7.38 lbs

If you want to shed a ton of weight you need to get away from Scorpion motors all together. A Pyro 600-12 is 3 oz lighter than the HKIII 4020.

I am not sure if the Hobby wing posted weight of 104 grams is with or without cables? If it includes them thats not bad if not your most likely looking at almost 175 grams. Otherwise the Jive 100 is 92 grams with cables.

Plastic case servos will net you a good weight savings. The MKS HBL665 will more than double the torque, add speed and save over 10 grams a piece to the JR servos you selected. Using a mini tail servo is asking for failure on this size of bird IMHO

Another place to save weight is the battery, 5200 is plenty big for an E5. I ran 5k packs and some run as low as a 4500. Of course the brand they are can have a big impact on weight when comparing similar capacity.

It all depends on how much you are willing to spend to have the lightest and best components.
