Question HC3-SX-Connecting Power

I want to use the HC3-SX with a Hitec Optima 9 Rx on a T450Pro, and am not sure how to power them. I know the HC3-SX needs direct power. Should I use a Y lead from the UBEC to power both the HC3 & Rx or will the Rx get its power from the HC3?

UBEC=5A? Is that OK?

Also, if anyone uses the HC3-SX with A9 & O9 are there any specific setup points to look out for?

Any help appreciated.

If i remember what Danny told me correctly, i think the HC3 gets power from a cable that's from your main power switch into the port right next to the Tail servo port on the HC3. This port is the second one from the right looking at the connector holes side. In turns, your receiver will gets power from the two "Ele" and "Ail" cable that goes from HC3's "Cable Loom" to your receiver. I'm sure that's how my bird is hook up as currently. I may be wrong, so I'm sure Danny will chime in really quick here.

You can supply direct power into the Servo #4 port on the HC and it will go back to the Rx and power it.

On the O9 though, you are only going to use no more than 8 channels anyway so you can also power it all through the normal battery port/channel 9 on the Rx. In this manner, the RX will power the HC via the cable loom.

It all makes sense now!

Many thanks for your replies

P.S. is a 5A UBEC sufficient? Its the Hobbywing 5A/7.5A

Was thinking of using the Castle 10A BEC (7A I think at 12v)

You should always power the HC directly, for the shortest supply ways to the servos, not really regarding the HC itself.
For this you can use almost any port on the HC, in case by using Y-leads, except for the ones that only have signal pins. You can see this, if not using it anyway, by holding the cable loom into it's place: where the colored wires are, so no red and black in the row, that's where no supply can be connected.

Your Rx, no matter if standard with cable loom or S.BUS with a single cable, will always be fine by getting it's power "through the HC" (which actually has nothing to do with the HC, but simply run through).
