Default Difference between gyro settings?

Flying a stock Blade 400. Just curious, what is the difference in the gyro settings for the gyro switch on the DX6i and with the Blade 400 (with standard programming from the manual) ??

Is one setting "Heading Hold" and the other setting "Rate"? And if so what does that stuff mean? I gather heading hold attempts to just keep the tail where you last commanded it, and rate just slows down movements?

Heading hold means the gyro is on and controlling the tail with you.

Rate mode turns the gyro off and you are controlling the tail on your own.

Ummm, no.

Heading hold and Rate are two very different functions of a working gyro.

Darnit, I wrote a long explaination and the site froze up. so I will try and keep this simple.

On heading hold. Lets say you fly your helicopter sideways. The tail will hold the helicopter in a sideways flight pattern where the nose and tail stay equal as it goes. It will try and keep the tail orientation at the same angle it started in.

In rate, the tail will begin to move in behind the nose of the heli much like an airplane. Pretty soon if you try and keep up the sideways flight the tail will angle over behind the nose of the heli and begin following it.

Luvmyhelis good definition of HH vs RM. This is all assuming you have the TX programed properly. In your Gyro setup screen you need to have something similar to these gyro switch positions. 0: 65 1:35 Where Gyro/Gear switch position 0 is HH and position 1 is RM. With Spectrum any number above 50 is HH and below 50 is RM.

Not always.

It depends on how you have your radio set up. On my DX7 it goes from -100 to +100. Below 0 is rate and above 0 is HH.
