Default I took the plunge (and need some help with gyro location)

So, I've been flying coaxial helis for a while, and finally decided to take the plunge and get myself a CCPM heli. I went back and forth between the 450SA and the Blade 400 for months, but decided that if I went cheap, I would regret it in the long run, so yesterday afternoon I brought home my shiny new T-Rex 450SA. I got 65mg's, 9650 on the tail with the 401 gyro, and I've got a DX6i with the AR6200 RX.

So I'm working through the setup of the heli, and am running in to the issue of where to locate all of the electronics on the frame. I know this has been over in many other threads, and I've read through them, but had a new idea that I wanted to run past you guys. Align says to put the gyro in front of the motor, but Futaba says no closer than 10cm. The only place on the frame that's more than 10cm away is on top of the boom. I was thinking of compromising, and putting the gyro on the very back of the bottom plate of the frame, right where the receiver is supposed to go. The receiver fits almost perfectly in the little flat spot between the frame rails under the boom, and the esc will either go up front where the gyro would have been, or between the gyro and motor. Any thoughts on if these locations will work, and work well? I definitely don't want the gyro on top of the boom, as I'm afraid of the consequences of a newb pilot. Thanks for the help, and I'll post some pics once it's together.

You can mount it under the boom with Rick's SA gyro mount

Scroll down to "NEW! Trex SA Inverted Gyro Mount:"

hoave a look on my gallery "Hotwings" on RR and look at the se with the 401 on top of the tailboom block, i have since moved it to the bottom, it will work just fine on the area that you want to put it. Ron

Please don't reinvent the wheel, there are ways to install your electronics but the main key is to install them with no adverse reactions between components. The installation can work any way you want to but the standards that work well and with no problems are within the forums.
The Align instructions seem to be a so so guide but only on paper not in reality!
