Default DXe radio setup?

So yesterday I got Phoenix 5.5 which come with the Spektrum DXe. I tried setting it up twice and I'm not sure how to start flying. I went through all the steps and selected DXe (HELI) at that part of the sim, but once I get into a heli I can flip some of the switches and the motor will spool up to a fixed rpm and basically sit there.

However, there is a button on the top left of the radio that says "BIND/PANIC/TRAINER" if I push this button the heli will go straight up wide open. So I'm guessing this is all or nothing for collective pitch? I am brand new to heli's, I just got this sim to practice before I dive in to a real thing, so honestly have no idea if this is correct or not. It feels like there should be more control with it at least hovering though!

you need to go into the Set up new transmitter section, and do a full calibration. Then you should be able to take off by raising the collective stick

i know that this is an old thread but i was wondering about setup on a new DXE. I am new to this but do have several helicopters now and a dx6G3. I am thinking of buying a new DXE just for the sim and i was wondering if it will work ok out box with no programming or anything? don't wanna spend 20 bucks if i don't need to.

THANKS STEVE
