Default Hirobo Shuttle Challenge Build

I spent this weekend building a Shuttle Challenge.
O.S. 32 SX.
Full ZXX Bearing set.
All ball links, no z bends.

I have finished assembly. I am going to do the initial swashplate setup and moving up the mast. Well, I am going to start with the servos and moving up. I have the servos and rods initially set.

Please take flight video, sir!

I have a ZX or ZXX (can't remember which), another one that was given to me (not sure which model), and the original blue one/ARF, new in the box.

Not sure if I will ever get one going, but they sure flew nicely when new!

Dominic,

When the Shuttle first came out (1984/85) the GY-401 was not out. The Shuttle had a very long product life span, but I doubt there was any overlap.

Is that how the skids go? Looks like the one on the back is backwards.

When I purchased the original 'blue' shuttle, there was no such thing as an electronic gyro and no such thing as heading hold. I had a mechanical rate gyro which sounded like a small turbo charger when the gyro motor would spin up.

Here's what they looked like inside:

The fly wheels would spin and as the wind pushed the tail, the fly wheels would tilt causing a magnet to swing over a left or right hall effect sensor.

I remember those and the sound. Thankfully my Shuttle has something a bit more modern. Thanks for the video and memories. I have a 401 but right now it has a 210 on it.
