Default Fuel Magnet vs Header Tank vs OS Bubbleless Clunk

Hi guys,

I wanted your inputs on this.

I am currently running a header tank and the OS Bubbleless clunk in the main tank and I have absolutely no problems and love the combo.

However, I am planning a complete rebuild of my Vibes and wanted to get rid of the header tanks. I have used fuel magnets before, and I hated it because after 5 flights I found the fuel magnet in my fuel filter!!!! then I learned that after every flight you have to fill up the tank and empty it out to get the gasses out unless you use a YS... I was just too lazy to do that every time...

My question is, would the OS bubbleless clunk in the main tank be enough with no header tank? Does anyone use it and fly 3D? I still have a few OMI fuel magnets sitting around that I could use if you recommend so.

Regards,
G

No need for a header tank, I have been flying for a few weeks on fuel magnets and my engines are running better than they ever have.

Yes, no need. That was from leaving the needle a half turn out.

I switched to a fuel magnet from a header tank a week ago or so. I like the cleaner looks without the header tank but mostly because I am not hauling around dead weight in fuel that I dont burn anymore. I have put just a 18 flights on the fuel magnet with a Hyper and it works awesome! I just refuel immediatly after a flight and store the heli with a full tank. I just pinch off both the presure and carb lines to seal the tankup.

+1 on the fual magnets. They are great.

He Jason, just FYI, I had the header tank on the Vibe when it crashed. That is the one I am sending you.

I'm trying to get around to installing my header tank but for now I'm using and OS bubble clunk and I go almost bone dry every time. Not purposely, just cause I'm a helifreak and I get too excited when I'm in the air. Ran out a fuel once and did an inverted auto, not by choice, but landed it.

I think the best combo would be the header tank and the OS clunk.

I've heard bad things about the magnet, such as the material wastes away over time and causes cloggage. But just only heard that never experienced it.

I really do like the OS clunk and the HT combo myself.

I still cannot get the OS clunk in my Vibe though.. that hole is WAY too small and I'm afraid if I wallow it out it wont seal right anymore.

I usually run my main tank spotless dry and auto the last couple off the Header.

I had a tool lying around that was meant as a "reamer" for body posts from my days of running trucks, and used that to slowly make the hole larger little by little until I could fit through just barely. You could always run a bead of blue atv around the edges, but I feel like as long as you tighten the nut down good you won't have any problems...seems like a really tight fit still

Well, my OS clunks have been in the main tanks for a while and the fuel tubing is fairly new... so I guess I'll just remove the header tank. If that alone does not work well, I might give the fuel magnets another try...

Thanks for your inputs guys.

Regards,
G
