Crashing scale helis is not really an option anyway. If you crash it's not for you!

I just noticed that they've made corrections to the "silhouettes" in the Advanced Series category...

Still remains to be seen if the AH-64 will take it's rightful place in the Intermediate Series

Not sure why all the quads are in the heli section, but oh well

Not sure why the 450X is listed in the advanced section only and the 360 in the intermediate and advanced.

Steve, Brian, you better get them lads looking after your website to fix things!

It's clearly just an error on the website. The 360 has been put in the space where the 230S should sit. Notice that the 230S is completely missing at the moment.

I kinda like this one, but if I get another bird, my wife will kill me. She's starting to notice the room full of birds

Tell her it's for science.
Yeah, that'll work.

The problem for me is that it doesn't look anything like my other pod and boom helis, so she'll spot it straight away

And you can explain that because of it's camo paint scheme, she didn't notice it before

Top plan or maybe I'll just paint the wall in camo and perhaps she really won't see it!

This. If you're crashing a scale heli hard you aren't scaling right. less of a straight up mechanical failure (which isn't all that likely given the gear being used) I can't see stripping servos even being a viable concern

At that point, she will look at you and say:
"Do I have STUPID written on my forehead"?

Just go ahead, buy it and pray.
Perhaps some new jewelry would make things go over better?
(for her, not you)

Do you think so?

Just look at her and say, "Baby, show a little support for our troops please".

Yeah...I'm divorced.

Ok...we know that the AH-64 will appeal to the micro crowd...and the Dbl Bl crowd...but maybe I missed something...

It says it's got collective pitch...but has anyone seen anything that indicates that it will fly inverted? It certainly should, but nothing evidenced in the pictures thus far or in the specs

It should fly inverted if the head can achieve enough negative pitch, if that's your bag for a scale heli like this. But don't expect any 3D performance with its power/weight ratio.

I like scale helis and I like micros, so this appeals to me! I love the little Red Bull 130X, it's very heavy for its size but it can still do loops and rolls just like the real thing does at air shows and you can fly it inverted too, but I rarely do that as it requires perfect collective management to flip it inverted without serious bogging. It just makes a nice relaxing change from flying the usual pod and boom over-powered 3D helis. I would imagine this Apache will be similar except without the fragile tail mechanics.

The manual and additional pictures are online:
http://www.horizonhobby.com/products/BLH2580

Looks like they took a 180cfx and put it in a scale body. It can do scale 3D according to the manual.

I'm not sure it's got very much in common with a 180 CFX. It's got an electric tail for a start. I was thinking of it more as a scale 230S with the same FBL controller.

"Scale 3D" is an interesting term. I've never seen a real Apache doing any kind of 3D flying! I think they've just borrowed that terminology from the Red Bull 130X and I take it to mean that it can barely flip and roll. But that's cool with me for this kind of heli. It looks pretty cool just hovering about.

It's nothing of the sort. The 180CFX has a TT tail driven off the main gear complete with a separate tail servo, pushrod, etc. The Apache has a simple motor driven fixed pitch tail. The scale body IS the frame. There is no CFX style carbon frame stuffed in there. The Apache is nothing like the 180CFX. Not even the servo arrangement is close.
