I've not heard of anyone flashing the ZYX-S onto a 3X1000 I'm afraid ...

I dont know if zyx s will work or not but zyx firmware works.

Jock do you think this cx/tarot can stand on a gasser?

personally, I don't see why not.. it's running successfully on nitros..
Just like any flybarless unit, you'll have to mount it so vibes are minimum..

Keep in mind, even the mighty vbar is touch and go on a gasser but beastx is a little better.. so even the good brands are sus on a gasser too..

What tape are you using to mount the gyro? Foam? Thin 3M tape?

On a high-vibes machine I'd highly recommend the Milton mod (search here on HF): it involves Zeal gel tape and a cable tie pulled inside fuel tubing.

which firmware did you use exactally - the zyx or zyx-s firmware.. ?

There is one byte difference in the data port protocol between the copterx and tarot - that's why the hand controllers are not interchangeable and explains why you now need the tarot usb driver..

My guess is that the tarot lcd controller might work on your copterx now and NOT the copterx one - so be careful if you buy one as you can no longer go back to the copterx firmware as it's not available for download anywhere..

Hmmm - thinking... i'm worried the variable (settings) storage locations may be different between the copterx and the tarot - meaning the copterx software may work but store settings in different areas of the microcontroller so when you change a "P" value for instance it might change something else..

will be waiting eagerly to see how it goes for you..

I tried the gyro with ZYX firmware. It flies great but the CW turn while full pitch issue still remain. I have set the "Tail comensate/Collective to tail" to +10 but nothing happened. Any ideas?

I suspect a mechanical issue, rather than gyro tuning. Did you set up the tail limits to the max? Check for binding in the tail controls and grips also. What HS are you running? Does your motor bog when you go full pitch? Belt slipping?

Other than that, I found that the CX really likes fast, strong tail servos. I've got an MKS DS9670 on my 450. Perhaps your tail servo simply isn't up to the task...

Heli has not much vibes. Normal flight is really nice and smooth but when I pitch pump heli starts to rotate. The tail limits and trims are also fine. I am not sure about the HS but my eyes says its fast enough. But not too much to fool the gyro. Motor is an Align 450M. No bogging issue.

Tail servo is Futaba S9257. I believe its fast enough for the job.

I had tail wag issue since I've replaced the thin Scotch tape with BeastX foam. No tail wags anymore but this darn drift still remains.

I'll post the settings here. Maybe there is something I missed.

Thanks for your help DR. M

Posting the settings would help. Also motor, pinion, throttle curve settings, battery specs.

I know these things hold the tail solid - I can't make my tail blow out on the 450 or Protos no matter how I jam the collective stick, and I'm only running 3 points for collective>tail precomp.

Here's my settings .ini file for the 450. It's saved using John_NZ's software:

Nothing stands out as unusual except the relatively HUGE subtrims you have on the swash and the tail. You might want to decrease the "deadband RC" values on swash and tail as well from the defaults to a value around 10. This will help a lot with the heli's behavior around mid-stick, making it much smoother.

As for the tail blow-outs you're experiencing, I don't see anything in the settings that could cause it, unless your col>tail comp goes the wrong way (I don't think that's the case from your other settings). You might wanna double check on the bench that the tail blades pitch towards the boom as you move collective from center to the top in TH.

I guess your problem is fixed now, but since I had the same problem, here's how I fixed it:
I flipped the tail grips, per Finless Bob's instructions (even if he recommends it for another reason).
Check out the Simple Tail mod! Flip the grips! (70 Megs) video in the Trex 450 Pro build videos.
The Trex 450 Pro tail shaft is too short, so you can either flip the grips to get the most pitch against the main rotor torque or you can dremel the shaft to fix the grips a little more on the edge.
