Default New Heli Flyer

Been flying R/C for many years now but this is my first heli. I bought a used Stinger 50 with JR radio equipment XP7202. Having a experienced heli flyer check it out for me this week. Finding a heli instructor here in Ocala, FL. is somewhat difficult so it looks like I will be doing a lot of reading and spending a lot of time in the hover mode. I'm just grateful for this forum here and I'll be reading every post. The heli is now equipped with standard JR servo's and I'm wondering what I should be replacing them with. I want to stick with JR anyway.

Heads up to the Gohbee team for bringing this nice looking heli to us R/C lovers.

Hey Jaymom, Good looking Stinger ya got. I hope you enjoy yours. The Gohbee Stinger was my first 50 size nitro. I found the Stinger to be the perfect heli for learning or even flying stressful 3-D maneuvers (with upgrades). They fly wonderful & are easy to maintain. I still fly one, in fact I had 3 flights yesterday with mine. I live in a rural area & there is no R/C flying club close by. I researched & found a group of guys that are mainly heli fliers. These guys were located a little over an hour away, so I attended a fun fly there & learned a lot. Anyway...there is a wealth of information here on the freak. Before I even owned a heli, I had countless hours with a computer simulator. I think, for me... that was the best thing I could of done. Theirs no doubt in my mind that the simulator saved me many many dollars.

Good luck

Thanks Aerosmith I appreciate the comments. Right now I am waiting for my Stinger to get back from the hobby shop and I feel like I have lost a friend. lol They are going to check it all out and fly it a little before giving it back to me. Im thinking about getting a set of those big floats for it to use for training gear. When you get the time could you please give me an idea of what you mean by upgrades. Maybe a list of things I will need in time to come. Im certainly not going to need them for quite a while but eventually I hope to be able to do something besides hover.

Thanks,

Jaymom

The only upgrades that you will need down the road will be the on-edge dampers, Some lighter paddles, and when you get to doing harder maneuvers you may want the metal grips. When you get to starting fast backwards flight then the tail speedup pulley and carbon tail blades will help.

A stock Stinger is great as a trainer just as it comes out of the box.
