Default video of my tail issue

im sorry for the crappy video but all i had was my wife to help me today. i wish she would of been able to zoom in better, but it was kinda windy today and i didnt help with not keeping it still.
fast forward to the 27-30 second mark, look closely and you will see the very small wag/twitch im dealing with. also you can see when i move the tail right to left you can see what its doing. i think that may be bounce back ??

earlier in the day i started with a gain of 78. she hovered fine till i gave it rudder input and wag like mad. i was able to land and lowered the gain to 75. once again it hovered fine untill i gave some rudder and it wag but not as bad. lowered the gain to 72 and now it doesnt wag anymore with rudder input it just bounces back at the end of the stop.

here is the video. look closely around the 27-30 second mark
tail wag 003.MOD (0 min 43 sec)

thanks guys for all of your help. its getting close to being good..

I am far from and expert. But that didn't look like a wag. That was more like a gain issue causing the tail to bounce. Seems more noticeable with rudder input.

What's your tail gain, tail precomp and dial 3 settings?

Don't touch pot 3 until gain is set properly.
Seems more a gain problem. A tail wag will make your machine oscillate all the time.
Play with your gain try to decrease it a little, change 1 parameter at a time only if you want to find the problem.

Here is a link to basic setup of the tail for beastx

Let us know how your progression is going.

I wound try lowering your gain one or two % at a time until either your tail is solid or the tail begins to hunt or drift side to side slowly continually.

Remember, the higher your head speed the lower the tail gain will need to be. So if you have more one head speed setup, either with gov mode or flat curves, make sure to set gain for each.

Does the dx6i have a fmode option for gain like the dx7 and dx8? Can you set gains for normal and idle up modes?

ok just ran another battery threw her and this is what happened....
first thing i did was leave all the pots set to default and hovered with gain at 75. giving right/left rudder input, once it stopped it would wag/bounce just like the video i added in the second post. landed and lowered gain to 72 and the same as above would happen but not as bad. landed and turned it to 70.5 and it would stop jumping/wagging/twitching at the end of the stop.
BUT a very small, slow, tight wag came back. their is probably about 15mph gust at the field im using. dont know if this would make this big tail act like this or not.
gonna try the link for tail set up...

anyone have anything else to add ?

I have a DX8, my gain is at 55. Anything more than that is fine in a hove, but will wag like crazy in FFF. That would translate to about 30 on the DX6i, so 72 sounds enormous.

What do you have the HH gain on the BeastX set to?

Looked @ the video, that not really wag, that's bounce. Do you have precomp on?

Before doing anything else, Continue to lower your gain, it's not dangerous.
Gain to high will make heli oscillate during hover too !

Right. But what the video shows isn't a wag. Is a bounce on rudder stop.

Bounce is from the gyro giving too much input to lock the tail on stops.
Gyro is over compensating a little bit, which is a sign of too much gain, then the little shake is the gyro recompensating until the tail stops.

Try to lower gain + when gain ok, try to increase HH in beastx, then you should have something correct

ok guys good new without you guys id be f*%ked
ok so i go out with the new battery and HH in beast set to purple..very low.
gain in TX to 70.
i did a few FFF with a turn and the tail was noisy. landed and lowered gain to 68. again FFF with a turn and seemed less but i still heard it. landed and turned gain to 65 and FFF with a turn and no noise at all.
hovering and giving right/left rudder no more bouncing and it even sounds way different now.
the slow, small tail wag is about cmpletely gone. i ran out of battery and was not able to adjust HH in the beast.
maybe adjusting HH in the beast will cure the tail moving around just a bit. i was in 15mph wind. i know my 450 tail would of been moving a bit, i dont know if this tail should do the same or be solid in that kind of wind.

looks like we are getting somewheres now

Good to hear.
You can now try to increase the gain of heading hold in the beast, you might have something better
Enjoy your flights !
