Default CNC boom clamp!

Guys, what do you think of this?
Is there anyone that can share his experience about this CNC boom clamp for 550E?

Here's the link to the webshop. http://www.rakonheli.com/rkh/index.p...emart&Itemid=1
I think it is a great solution! What do you guys think of it?

Looks pretty cool. But $80 for a nice piece of bling? I don't know. The question is, does it make the gear mesh a little bit better on some kits, the gear mesh on my heli was very good out of the box. The plastic one is not that bad. There is not much(if that) plastic deformation in the stock one I think. I rather spend 80 bucks on useful spare parts.

It looks great, but it doesn't provide a means of adjusting the mesh / backlash on the vertical bevel gear engagement with the main drive gear.

You still have to get the boomblock out of the frame in order to remove the piece in picture Second...

the no stripping part they say, can easily be fixed with metal hex bolts in the boomblock.

Useless. for 80bucks, i'd rather get an extra TT set as align makes them(from booomblock to tailbox).

I wouldn't waste the money on it! Buy the upgrades that are worth something like the metal vertical fin tail mount.

I own it.
A pretty nice piece of work. Fit is very good, easy to swap gears. No need to remove boom, or split gear case. Least liked part is the 3 small 2mm nuts for top plate. Easy to loose and may replace with sell clinching PEM nuts in future.
Happy with purchase, and part of $80 is for included international shipping.
The guy was good with keeping in contact. Though out of stock he sells this with the 2mm frame for $140.
That's a better deal.
It's really a lot of machining for $80,been in the trade for 30 years my self.

Looks very cool. How does it compare in weight to the plastic?

I agree; it’s useless without adjustable gear mesh.

The gear mesh is no less adjustable than stock. Mesh is good and slightly better than stock. It barely felt heavy compared to stock. They state the weight on the web site, something like 10 g heavier. If it felt much heavier I would haze weighed it. They put a lot of work into it to reduce weight. You can always enlarge slots and holes in frame to tighten mesh to large gear, just like stock.

I'm close to starting a 550e build, but waited for this exact Combo 1 kit to arrive - the 2mm carbon frames, beautifully manufactured with clean cuts and clean mounting holes etc, together with the CNC Boom Clamp. It certainly looks a good deal - hopefully it goes together equally as well.

I will post more pics when I can do it outside and not have to use flash.
It's dark when I get home during the week.

I'm satisfied with my purchase. As a Machinist I can appreciate the time and effort put into it. Great also that frame screws are into aluminium and not sheet metals screws into plastic standoffs. It grips the tail boom very secure also. The bearings are retained with Loctite type retaining compound, so heat may be required to remove them. Not a big deal, about 400F - 450 F in a oven would do it.
