This is how I did my tail. It brings the motor back into its original position, slightly forward of center. Used CA to glue. Came out very strong, using all the bracing available. Quite time consuming. Will need to grind the canopy tail mount area back quite a lot to fit.

Has anyone installed the light kit for the SR Huey on the 230s frame yet?
I have a set and I really hope it works.
The light set gets it's power from the bind slot on the RX. This is kinda scarey for me.

A friend of mine did, looks kind of neat but made it a bit of a PITA to change batteries so I didn't install one myself..

I have all the stuff for this build. I was told the lights needed a separate power source. Will they really work off the bind port?? That would make things easy.

I tried the bind port for my set of lights.

The lights did work but the were but were very dim.

I connected to port 5 or six and the lights were bright and I didn't have any problem with the following flights.

Hopefully I didn't cause any damage to my RX and as of right now I believe the RX is fine.

Thank you. I just noticed there is an additional port on the far right. I'm guessing that is the one you used.

Yes Sir, that's the one.

Good luck with the Huey, whoever thought up this body/heli really did a good job at helping me spend my money.

I truly thank you for that.

I just wish i could fin another Huey-SR shell. There does not seem to be one available in the entire world.

Funny that Blade discontinued the shell too. There is still a large demand for it, as it will work with the 230s.

Just found a body and whole crashed Huey to aid in my conversion! More pictures to follow!
Finished up the tail mod and extended the tail motor wires!
First test flight was great!

Good news and bad. I completed my Huey SR build, basing it on an actual ship from my old unit. I was learning to do rivets an weathering, so some improvement is still needed there. Had several really good flights, then on spool up a bolt in the blade grip failed and part of the frame blew out the top and wrecked the fuselage. I will never use the RKH head again. :-(

I picked up a spare fuse a while back when I had a minor blade strike on the original airframe. The heli blew apart when the tail motor suddenly lost authority and I spun into the street.

I had the spare fuse and picked up a use 230S to do this mod. Thanks for posting the tail mod.

jbewley - Shame RC stuff have such random expiration dates. Sorry your Huey came too soon. Beautiful work.

Thank you for the compliment. I was very fortunate, to secure another fuselage and the old girl will fly again.

Just bringing it to the top as this is a great mod if you can find the fuselage!

I wouldn't mind doing something like this particularly since I love scale flying. A UH-1 Huey, or a Bell 407 body would be awesome.

Default UH-1 SR Body on 230S

I have one. Looking to sell. Either BNF or the fuselage alone. I also have 2 NIP tail motor mounts.

I'm just about to do this as i bought the SR Huey as my first Heli. Massive mistake as it's not for beginners. I went on to buy a 230s and i've been using that for a year.
So it makes perfect sense to put the 2 together.
I used a super matt paint and some eyeliner pencil to make the body look better

Here's a video of mine still on the SR. Looks much better with some Ultra Matt paint and some detailing.
