Question New to heli's; New Pantera 50 owner

Scored a new DX7 and Pantera 50 recently and know nearly nothing so far.
I kinda know what a flybar is, know there are Sport and 3D heli's and very little else. Excited to approach this with lots of caution and care and any tips are appreciated.

I may do an electric conversion, but for now I'm doing assembly of the main structure and working though what gyro or flight aids I may need to add to my radio system.

Welcome !!

Do you have any flying experience ? If not, in addition to the building and reading, get a sim and start practicing.

Try and find a flying club near you ? You're sure to find a lot of helpful people and by watching and asking you'll learn a lot quickly.

That machine CAN and WILL do any maneuver out there....they are a touch more portly than others in the same class but they are hands down the toughest 600ís out there. Parts will be around a long time. And you can talk with the chief dog that produces them in Florida for tech help/parts, etc....Iíve got over 300 logged flights on mine in 2 summers.....enjoy yours

Thumbs up Thank you for your replies.

It will be a while before it leaves the hangar, but I am starting the build already.

Ordered some HV sevros, so I will be doing a 7v system. Is it better to get a 3c battery pack? What Mah battery would be a good match?

Picked up an OS 50 SX-H and Revolution muffler.

A direct link to some flybar setup instructions would be nice too.

In the meantime I will get my DX7 set up with a dongle for some Heli-X simulator time before I try to hover the HK500GT.

Go to Super good, dirt cheap!, you can download/view the manual for that bird. Covers electronic and mechanical setup, etc....

You can setup any heli for sport or 3d through transmitter or fbl unit if available. Even though they advertise 3d smack heli you can tone it down to where you feel very comfortable. Now there is a steep learning curve! Best to go out to local field and find someone for help or contact me on Facebook and I will be more then willing to take you on threw live video or just chat. I have flown the dx7 old school dsm2 for 8 years I know that radio lim5e the back of my hand. Here's my contact info.....

As far as HV setup just use a 2s 30c or so 2550mah pulse makes them and no bec. Make a y led and go directly Into unit. Just make sure everythi g will handle 8.4v that's a fully charged 2s. Governor, rx, and whatever else your putting on there. If there's something that runs on 6v you will need a bec and the castle creations makes a great bec fully programmable...

Are you the fellow that ordered three DS345BLHV and a DS120BLHV yesterday? If so, you may want to consider a 2S LiPo now before we ship so we can consolidate the order and save you some shipping. The 2S2200 is what I'd recommend. Call me. https://www.promodeler.com/lipo.aspx
