Default Velocity 90n2 purchased

Just pull the trigger on a Velocity 90n2 FBL kit.
Some of you might think I'm stupid!, lol, to each is own

Anyway looking for any advice on setup, alternate parts that work, mods, or anyone that still has and flies one of these!

Pretty depressing over here, hopefully some positive comments still out there!

Thanks!

Wish I had your will power a few days ago (just a touch of buyers remorse)!

I'll certainly post in the future, might be a while. Big reason why I bought this was price with the hope parts will be supported for a little while longer. Time will tell.

I think you will be more than happy with your new purchase. The price on the kit is amazing. The upgraded (n2) tail cost $200 by itself. I would buy the CNC main gear if it is not included in the kit. I stripped two of the stock ones within 10 flights. Parts availability have been generally fine. Some parts (ie. clutch and canopy pin mounts) take longer to be replenished than others so I try to stock up when I see them in stock. The Velocity 90 n2 still puts a big smile on my face every time I fly it.

Thanks for the input. I've been really happy with the Fusion and delt with the part delays. Lucky enough parts seem pretty common for it.

I'm a little discouraged to find Helidirect is the only stocking distributor of 90n2 parts. I've been putting a list together for common items but most are out of stock right now. I hope they keep the parts trickle flowing.

Outside of that I'm pretty excited about putting this thing together. "Poorboi", any build or setup tips you can offer? Your setup?

Thanks!

It's a straight forward build. It has the setup pins like the Fusion to get the head setup. I fly mine with Hitec MG7965, OS 91hz-r, and a Beastx. Nothing fancy. If you run into any snags let me know and I'll give you a hand. Enjoy!

I'm with this guy. Ive always loved the design of the Velo 90 / 90N2. I would also love to have one, but i know that once when i need replacement parts, they'll be out of stock. I would defiantly be interested to see a build thread / pictures to help bring some life to this forum and heli!

Sorry guys, not yet. Still working on acquiring components for the build. The big item is the motor and muffler $$$. I can't build it till I have the motor. If anyone sees a killer deal on a O.S. 91hzr, let me know.

So far the kit looks good. It essentially is the N1 kit, with the N2 tail kit included. So I have both tail systems. The N2 tail is a nice piece of work. A lot of machined aluminum parts.
I did order some spare parts, the upgraded main gear was the big one. I set the "notify" option on HeliDirect's site for the other parts I think I should have, gears, torque tubes, etc.
The weather sucks so I'm not in a huge hurry to get this heli airborne, so stay tuned.

Happy Holidays!

It's a nice machine for the price. They include both the n1 and n2 tails in the kit, so you kinda got a spare.

AMainHobbies has a killer deal on the velo50n2 if your looking at a 50 size.

Regarding my build, just ordered the Hatori SB20 Botos edition from HD for $169! Sorry last one!

I just built a FBL 90 N2. Went together nicely except I'm a tool. Couldn't get the slop out of the head until I flipped the lower and middle bearing blocks. Now it's tight. took me a while to figure that out.

Waiting on a regulator so I can go fly - weather permitting.

Decided to buy a second kit for parts - just in case.

I wrestled with the ball links. Twas a bitch loosening them up and actually screwing them onto the links.

Congrats on your kit purcahse.

I was flying a V90 up until recently and was always impressed with its flying characteristics.

I did perform an in-depth build review back in 2011 which covers the N1 kit fairly well. You may find it of some interest to take a look at the thread. Note that my kit was a fairly early revision and it did not originally include many of the upgraded 'B' version parts that would probably be in your kit.

Enjoy the heli - Mine is currently retired, although I do have another complete brand new one still in the box complete with the N2 tail components and heaps of spares - Maybe I'll assemble this one in a few years time and keep it as a 'shelf queen'.

I found that thread a few weeks ago and read every post. The pictures are outstanding. I have it as a favorite so I can refer to it quickly.

Love the tips and your heli looks awesome.

I bought a used N1 FBL a few weeks back, but I just received an N2 flybarred kit today. I must say the N2 tail is amazing looking compared to the N1. I mostly bought this second one for parts....since I am a newbie pilot. However, I now want to buy another engine and have 2 complete units ready to fly. Hmmmm, I may just have to buy a 3rd!! I sure hope Outrage sticks around for the long run, I absolutely love these things.
Merry Christmas

Just an update. I'm working on collecting all the goodies for my build.

So here's where I'm at.
Picked up the O.S. 91 HZR 3D DRS
Hatori Botos O.S. edition
Align DS615 cyclic servos, 655 tail
Scott Gray Reactor HVX BEC
iKon Flybarless control
Align RPM sensor

Still waiting for a deal on blades. Hopefully assembly will begin in a few weeks.
