I've been thinkin about getting the poseidon for a while now, and haven't had the balls to pull the trigger yet. What do ya'll think of it and how does it fly compare to the mars or trex 450 pro?

I'm sure that it flys the same as the Mars. Both machines are identical when it comes to the mechanics.

Well, the gearing in the Poseidon is a bit tamer than the Mars, but you probably won't notice that. The larger stabilisers keep it in a nice groove in fff. I have my Poseidon set up the same as the Mars and honestly can't tell the difference except in fff. Some say the Poseidon is easier on the eyes, it does look like a rocket with the canopy on.

If however you decide you want to do a 6S setup, the Poseidon is the bird for you.
The good thing about having the two is that they fly pretty much the same and share a common pool of spares. So yes, sometimes I raid one to put the other back up if I'm in need.

The Mars kit that I purchased through Hobby Lobby included both sizes of tail drive gears allowing me to run either ratio. Other than the motor pinion which you select based on cell count and motor kV, this is the only difference in gearing.

Yeah,

Hey, we both got our kits from Hobby Lobby! Is yours an early one with cast parts? That's why my Poseidon is geared the same as the Mars, pinions and all. Like I said, I can't really tell the difference.

Even longer air time, faster balancing of the lipos, the motor and esc stays much cooler,a very nice sound can be the result and if you want and/or need it can produce alot of power. With the shorter 6s lipo you have also more choice in balancing the weight point by placing of the battery.
Its anyway a win-win sittuation.

Yeah do that! YOu could also look into getting one of the combo 6s kits one time.
It comes with your choice of scorpion 6s motor, the scorpion 60A 6s ESC, Radix 350s and Gazaur 340s. http://mars480.com/poseidon480cf-pro...ed-480801.html

While you're there, you can buy a mini g gyro and a 6S pack.

If you want to go it slow, make sure you get a CF Poseidon, those things look wicked.

Boy, I can't even remember. I think it could have been around 2007.

Yeah, the die casting leaves something to be desired as far as appearance goes, but I have not had any issue with part durability or function.

Same here. I have only ever had one problem with one part. The cast piece which gave me trouble was one of the boom brackets. The alloy is hard and if you twist it, snap! Only happened once though, and it was my fault for twisting it.
Other than that, The tail box section on these birds is brilliant, one of the few machines (only?) which secures the boom and blocks by passing a single bolt through the clamps and frames and securing with a nylock nut.

PM me if you are interested in mine, I was running the stretch kit with 350 blades, scorp -6 on 3s, 55 amp scorp esc but pulled everything else out to put in my new FBL Rave. I'm ready to part with it and the spares. It flew nice. Real "floaty" with 350's. Its set up for Futaba 9257 tail servo. I got it when HL first offered it.
