Default Got it!

Found the problem. Got it all set close. +11/0/-10. Any way I notice one of the blades had a slight bow in the middle of it. So i gotta new set of blades and went outside and it hovered perfect.. Never would have thought a slighly bowed blade would have kept it from lifting off but it did..Now I have New problems.. I will make a new post about the dx6i acting up.. Keeping the elevator servo from working right.. Thanks for all the help guys..

Default Wish it wasn't mine..

Thanks 1badair. I checked my code on the back of the radio. It is 807E so if I am right that is the one that qualifies. I noticed when it acts up I can go into monitor menu and hold the right stick for acouple seconds in any position but neutral. And the sliders will catch and hold then jump around...When it acts up it kicks the front of the swash up.and limits the movement of my elevator servo. But it works with throttle collective just fine.

Does anyone know how long I will have to go without my Radio if I send it in for repair? Do I have to pay for shipping also??
This sucks I first noticed it on about my 3rd flight back in january. It got worse over time. It would do it more frequently and for a longer duration.. Oh well

My DX6i was bad out of the box. Same date code and issue as you with ELE. I also have THR issues too. I can play with the left stick and have ELE jump around!!

I called Horizon about that issue and all the issues with my CX3 and the told me to send it all back. I complained about having to pay for shipping and they said they would send a call tag. I have been waiting a week now for the call tag.

Default More Help for a newbie

I've gone throught the head set-up ( a couple of times). I now have the same pitch positive and negative. The problem is that one blade has greater travel that the other.
Blade one is -11/0/+11
Blade two is -14/0/+14
What do I need to adjust to get them equal?

On a side note, I have a heck of a time hovering. The heli tends to want to dart around. It is likely just me, since I am new, and hovering pretty close to the floor and ground effects.

If you have any ideas on either question, let me know.
Thanks!

You need to set up the heli per Sokal's videos. There is no way tracking could be close with that big of a pitch delta! I wouldn't fly it any more till it was set up correctly.

I went through those videos, a couple of times, so I am missing something in the process.
First time through the + to - was not equal, and the blades where different too.
Second time through, the + and - pitch are equal, but the blades are different, and I'm not sure where to look next.

Check the mixing arms on your blade grips. You most likely have one flipped around. One ball is further from the pivot than the other and if reversed will change your mixing ratio. Hope this helps

WOW, you're absolutely correct, I do have one of them flipped around!!

Now, which one is the right way? Looking at pictures in the on-line manual, I can't tell which side goes to the swashplate, the long or the short.

Edit, I found this picture, is it correct?

Use the pic above for stock config and flip the mixer arm around if you want more responsiveness. You should read through all the mixer arm flip threads before you do that though.

That's not stock, that's the mixer arm flip config.

Go back to post 29 and look at the pic. Can't be any clearer than that.

OK, I just wanted to make sure. I think a couple of post happened about the same time, and I wanted to be clear on stock config.
Thanks!

your best bet is the the zeesaw rod. check whether its not moving up and down, it should only wip not going horizontally up or down.
if this is o.k. make sure your grips are not flipped i.e. the nut must be on the lower side.
if all this is o.k. check your pitch curve in the dx6 i make sure you get something in Normal like 40 45 50 75 100

make sure throttle curve is going up to about somewhere like 0 30 50 70 90

than if you adjusted pitch correctly and your training gear is not too oversized, heavy
you should lift of at about 50 to 60 %.

did you put the blades the right way ? clockwise rotation ?

best of luck

PS: if it doesn't feel right it is most propably not right don't try to force...... you ll only
crash and force your pocket......

Thanks for everyones help. I got it set up correctly now, and actually was able to do some hovering, and actually had some control.
Much better. Now the real practice can begin!
