I wonder what throttle hold is ... and is it useful to use it when take off or land ??

Throttle hold turns the motor off on an electric heli. This is useful for doing autos but more importantly you MUST hit TH before you crash or the damage will be very extensive.

Throttle hold (also known as the "OH SH!T SWITCH" or the OSS) kills any and all power to the drive train. Like HFG stated it is used to perform off power manuevers like autorotations. Many use it to prevent excessive damage in the event of an unplanned collision with the ground or other inmovable object. With the right timing, proper application of the OSS can greatly reduce the damage from very ugly crashes.

you MUST learn to fly with a spare finger on the TH button, you wont be able to find it in time during a crash.

then what is the difference between throttle hold and throttle cut .. actually on my Futaba T6EX 2.4ghz I have a flip switch on the upper right side which is the throttle hold switch and another push button beside the screen which is the throttle cut ....

now I am confused

ON an electric there is no difference. On a nitro throttle hold puts the engine setting low enough that it disables the clutch but keeps the engine at idle so you can re-engage it quickly. Throttle cut kills the engine and you can't restart it.

Real simple, just put on TH, move throttle stick to mid point, flip to idle-up, flip off TH, wait about five seconds for soft start to bring it up to rpm, and take-off.

Caution: don't do this if you don't use soft start.

For landing, just flip TH about six inches off the ground and it land's itself.

I'm still a relative newb but that seems like it would cause an unnecessary shock or jolt to the drivetrain that could certainly induce stripped and or missing teeth. Excess wear and tear on a motor and well everything throughout the head. That was the purpose for soft start.

No it doesn't. Soft start begins really slow. Must slower that most beginning flyer do. It puts less strain on the drivetrain that a manual start at regular speed. My ESC settings are: 1 2 2 2 2.

Also keep in mind, most throttle cut buttons only work as long as the button is depressed. If you take your finger off the button before you go to throttle hold you'll be right back into the chicken dance.

Learn to hit that switch. I even do it in the sim. It has to be automatic. If it's not you're gonna be too late.
