Default 2 x MW54H turbines looking for new homes...

Hi to the forum members here!

I'm living in the UK and have been following this thread this evening as I seek out faithful MW54H owners to touch base with.

I have 2 x MW54H turbines, one brand new kero start, never been used (apart from initial testing with Wren and periodic anti-det) and the other gas start, approximately 12 hours use and serviced by Wren.

I'm looking to find new homes for these as I just have too much going on to commit to any more projects right now. They are indeed getting hard to come by, especially in this condition... so if anyone is interested, please PM. Will post some pics during the next day or two.

AeroPFlyer, if you're looking to sell those engines, place an ad in the Classifieds section.

Discussion forums are for discussions onky.

Thx.

Default The heat shield for elevator servo

Had fabricated a few heat shields and found simple as this one works quite well. It has 1/2" clearance between the soda-can aluminum plate and the servo for heat ventilation.
The third pictures is the old beaten up O ring for the starter on the new O ring six pack package purchased at Home Depot.
BTW, I will get this kerosene burner from Jetcat since there is no other choice.

Default Wren Power Systems replied

This was my third trial to contact Wren and finally I got a reply.
"A Full Kero upgrade for that engine is £416 plus delivery and Vat inside the UK." That's easy. Only money talks.

Just a heads up on your heat shield. Don't let it touch the motor mount heat sinks. Vibration may get those to tapping together and possibly generate some unwanted RF noise.

Hum, it is touching. I doubt about the RF noise but there are just minimum clearances between the motor mount and CF sub chassis for servos. I will make the mount pressing to the shield tight so that it won't vibrate.

Default Wren MW54 test bench

RC Jet mobile slow drive (4 min 0 sec)

Kero start Wren MW54 on kids' pedal car chassis.
The main purpose of this project is to set a good solid test bench for the model turbine engines. Consequently this cart has no suspension mechanics and a lot of plays in the string pull/pull steering.

Thank you guys,
Again this is made from a $88 pedal car as attached and I didn't cut or weld any part. Although I'm not planning to go Mojave Desert, I believe it can go really fast at the terminal speed.

I could analyze (not criticize) these on some parts.
The first clip showed it was over powered and need more precise handling on the propane starter. Also need more throttle delay to avoid flameout.
The second one showed insufficient power (enough as a blower) for the weight. I was going to make my bike like this if he could take off from there.

Default Wren MW54

You will see how quickly it consumes the 500ml of kerosene.
Wren MW54 Kero-start, idling 46000rpm, full throttle 140000rpm (3 min 51 sec)

With jet engines the only thing you can see moving is the fuel level.I have mine set on the lowest rpm i can get away with in the interest of fuel economy and bearing life.

Definitely in that video it was the only thing moving except for clouds when compared beginning to end. The first minute I thought it was a still!
