ESC Recomendation
I am setting up my heli with the Demon right now, and decided not to use the 100 amp Castle ESC that originally bought for it. I finally gave in to the 10s 4000mah batts and am looking for another ESC to use with the X50E/Demon Combo.
I am looking hard at the Kontronik HV 80+, install it, forget it but keep whining about how much it cost. The other ESC would be the Castle HV 120. I am intrigued by the Hobbywing 1120 HV Pro that people have been talking about favorably. Still a bit frightened of it though. I have a Demon as well as a SGP HVX so I need a governor (or not) but no BEC. My plan is sport flying and eventually getting a fuse for it with a multi-blade head. Do I dare buy a Hobbywing or Castle for this thing? |

I've used a HK YEP120hv on this heli on 10s and it worked fine. You can get it plus the prog card (you'll need this btw) for ~$100. Pretty good value imho.
If you can afford to buy the best, get a kontronik 120hv helijive. Cheers, TomC

I'm using a Jive 80hv in my X50e, Xera 4035, 12s, +/- 14 pitch, headspeed is 1810 - 2270rpm.
No issues there. Have not logged it to see amp draw, but the esc always comes down below 40 degrees C. It's getting colder up here, but judging by the esc temps atm, I don't expect any issues during summer.

Jive 80hv is fine for 12s but on 10s the amps are going to be a bit higher. Probably ok if you use a heatsink. I think that the 120hv is better to start with since it gives you the option to use it in a larger heli later.
Cheers, TomC

I run the HobbyWing Platnium Pro 120 on 3 helis and know many others running it on the Rush 700 and Align 600 and 700 with no problems so far. I switched all mine from CC.
