Still using Robird?
Hello all!
Is anyone else still running a Robird on their heli? I still have one on a P 500 and can't bring myself to change it out. Are the newer FBls like Ikon really better? Thanks, Huey

That is the question! I like the way that it flies with the Robird but I wanted to know if anyone had any experience with the Robird and something else on the same heli to see if there was something better.
I have an Ikon and another Protos that I'd like to try sometime so that I can do a side by side comparison. If I ever get that done I'll post my findings.

I am still using Robirds on several of my helis. About 6 months ago I put another one on my TSA 700. They are simple to set up and adjust and I like the way they fly. They are simple units and if you're not looking for a lot of "bells and whistles" then they are great FBL units. I've seen them used by sport pilots all the way up to factory pilots.

Thanks for the reply! Have you ever tried or flown any other FBL units?

I have about nine Robirds in service right now (I used to fly for Robird and the importer was extremely generous to me, plus I purchased a few on the secondary market later on).
I fly V-Bar, BeastX, TAGS-Mini, and Robird. I like them all, but I still have a soft spot for Robird. I probably still have more time on Robirds than any other FBL unit. As Scott said, they are easy to set up. They are also very reliable and no slouch when it comes to performance. I have used them on 450's, 500's, 550's, 600's, and 700's. I like the feel of them in flight-the tail is probably as good as V-Bar (at least Blue V-Bar) and better than BeastX (and I like BeastX).

I've used the BeastX and the MSH Brain2. I felt the BeastX was a little "soft" for me out of the box and needed some adjustment before I felt like I liked it. I have the Brain2 on a couple of helis now and it flies good straight out of the box. I have a couple of these primarily because I like the ability to make changes directly from a wireless device. Both the Brain2 and BeastX cost more than the Robird and it's an individual decision on how much you want to pay for the bells and whistles. For me, and I suspect the vast majority of pilots, you set up your FBL once and don't touch it again unless there's a crash, you put it on another heli, or you decide you want to play with different settings.

I have two , I am not a 3d wizard , but I ilke them , I haven't used my heili"s for a couple of years . I would crash when I try new or difficult maneuvers ,so im looking at systems with bailout mode , …...and pricey , still so are crashes , It would be great if that option could be downloaded , I would keep using them .

I purchased the Robird from ssrobzoom late last week.
I arrived yesterday, still brand new and sealed in the package. I am extremely pleased and would not hesitate to purchase from him again!

Check Ebay, and check the for sale items here on HeliFreak-I bet you will be able to find another one.
I did fly a Robird again a few weeks ago in a Compass Warp. It still had the same, nice solid feeling I remember. Still a very good FBL unit, IMHO!
