Default Where to Start?

Hey All,

Probably a question that gets asked a lot around here, but, where do I find info about night flying setups? I want to rig my Goblin 700 for night flying. Seems like a lot of the sticky threads are several years old and I would like to know the best batteries, wiring techniques, where to buy the lights, etc.

Thanks!

Peruse through the main "night flying" forum. This place is pretty quiet, but there's still some good help.

LED tape for the canopy, frame and boom can be found at hobbyking and other places, for a hit more money.

Blades come in two flavors, home made, and factory made. I find the home made blades to be brighter, and of course more options for color and pattern

One other trick you can do is add a BRUSHED speed controller to the setup so you can adjust the brightness and turn them off...

Lots of info in these stickies on making blades if you're looking for that. I wrote up some of my earlier projects and include links in some of the threads below to the guides I used for inspiration.

Neon string can be a bit dim for a big model. I would suggest 12V LED strips are the standard way to light the canopy, boom and tail fin, a 700 can get some distance so you want something bright, and you can power them from any 3S pack, or from 12V taken from the balance plug of your flight pack (any two pins 3 cells apart will give you around 12V out).

And if you're interested in some slightly more interesting main blade lighting, I'm going to be selling some add on lighting kits around Feb, prototypes are en route from China right now :-)
